i'm going to be getting the set painted or powdercoated this month for the summer!

my question is

should i get them painted or powdercoated black?

and if so, why? and what will be the differences?

I want them glossy black ..nice shine, like my car

thanks

Yes
1. New Look
2. Something Different
3. Why not?

i've heard the powdercoating process can actually shrink aluminum wheels. are they 2-piece wheels? you wouldn't be painting the lip too, would you?

powdercoating finish is much much more durable, and i would recommend it on the wheels over paint, simply because of the rock chips and weather factor, combined with a more sealed surface thats easier to clean brake dust off of with their durability.

just do some homework on the powdercoating process, and let us know where you plan to go with it :D

IMO dont...that look is played out & can be found a dime a dozen on the street. those are beautiful wheels as is. Now if they were rashed up i would say p/c over paint.

im sick of black rims polished lip. and im getting sick of lipped rims ...
so if I had those id leave em as it is besides they looks great on a black 202

yeah they are 2 piece, and id only be powdercoating the inside piece, id leave the rim and polish it only

and if it turns out ugly or anything i'll get em back done to the original color.

Cmon, i'm only 17.. I want my ride being more dope than all my friends cars. haha even tho its already the fastest.

Im prolly going to go to this place my buddys cousin works at that powdercoats things. they said they'll do rims.. but polishing the rest of the wheel..where can i do that?

Make the lip black too or just leave them alone, I am also very tired of the black rim polished lip look.

Besides you dont wanna be a ricer now do you?

black rim polished lip
is not rice
its done to so many types of cars.

Its ugly on so many types of cars too...
If you wanna see wot its gna look like temporarily, this is a trick I have used in the past.

Blue tape off the lip so it stays shiny and silver, and go to the store and buy some temporary black hair spray, the kind you use on halloween to make your hair blue or green etc, but in black, should be like $5.

Spray it on the wheel and take the tape off and you have a rough estimate of what it will look like if you get it done for real.

It will wash off with water and a sponge real easy so dont worry, and it looks pretty realistic too.

Maybe after you try this youll see you should leave them as is, heck try the polished lip temporary thing first, then do the whole thing black temporary, do whatever it washes off easy.

looks SICK! by the way, is the exhaust tip factory or did you buy it? I don't know maybe it came w/ the AMG cars... but i need one like that to make my exhaust tip look pretty, now it's a dirty crusty pipe sticking out and looks like rubbish..

Wait, is that the car that the wheels went on? i dont even know who's it is now..

anyway, doesnt matter, anybody know where i can get nice exhaust tips?

That exhaust on the black C43 is the stock stainless steel muffler with chrome AMG tips, as it is delivered from the factory. You could always look through these forums to find about 10 different solutions for the look you want, or then there's always the ultra sweet looking $8 bolt on ones from autozone since you want them to look "pretty" :dead:

those are nice carlsson wheels, why would you paint them black? only the stock ugly wheels deserve to be painted black, so you cant see how ugly they are. black paint makes the wheel blend in with the background and you can see rim's outline. all u'll see is polished lip. black wheels are the ugliest style ive ever seen.

I disagree. You should change your statement so that it reads IMO black wheels are the ugliest rims I have ever seen

I like black wheels myself. No more than silver or white wheels though, meaning that if the wheels on my car are already black and look nice, or white or silver, I ll leave them as is.
