I've heard from reputable rebuild shops, that Nippondenso makes NO genuine Nippondenso parts available to rebuild their 6CA17C A/C compressor.
Yes, there are aftermarket shaft-seals and gaskets available, but you're better off purchasing a NEW one.
These shops make their money rebuilding A/C compressor so the last thing they want to do is send their business elsewhere for a new A/C compressor.
Is this true ?
Even the Mercedes factory rebuilt compressors at $750 with no clutch (another $300+) makes it compelling to get a new A/C compressor for about $1,100.
Supposedly all the "rebuilt" ones are from overseas and they are NOT using genuine Nippondenso seals, gaskets, and switches.
Anyone have the "straight dope" on this ?
TIA,
:-) neil
