center looks like it has a big lump in the middle - yea first day out with this lip and I smash it agianst the pavement pulling fast out of a parking lot. Next, after a nice freeway cruize i come home and the edge of it it melted - damn stock exhuast!!

so, New MagnaFlow will be ordered soon (Alex .. anytime now) and i wanted to get some real Carbon Material and make like a diffuser type thing to maybe cover the huge lung and the melted part ? What you guys think ??

And by the way, Should I get a Magnaflow or Apexi Exhuast ? I dont know how loud it would make my car I cant decide but maybe Apexi + Illegal Turbo isnt such a good Idea in CA

EDIT: Front lip is in the making, next up planning a side of sides who knows ? But this will be one of the most Unique W202's

it would honestly look great if you had it molded into the bumper to hide the seam

it was like an 01' CLK. Lip is gone got destroyed when I fell asleep at 5am and took the shoulder off the freeway bending my sway bar bent two front stock rims and dented my intercooler.

Im using the stock lip right now I dont know maybe I get another one if i learn to drive without falling asleep.

yea mines a pre-updated 97'.

nice, well i cant wait to see what the front lip is, did you have to cut the rear lip in half or anything? or was it pretty much plug and play?

RemoLexi
03-13-2007, 07:06 AM
it had to be cut in half and extended about 4 inches, I knew I could have done a much neater job but I was in a hurry that night.

ah, so what did you use for the extensions? fiberglass?

RemoLexi
03-13-2007, 01:46 PM
I used fiberglass for the most part i tryed to avoid bondo at all costs since it cracks easy but I did use it to fill the air bubbles that showed up in the FG after it was done. I really want another lip like this agian. :(

another lip? what happened? did you explode it already? also theres like a polyfill you can buy that is a flexible body filler for polyurethane bumpers and such, evercoat makes it, its awsome.

no I lost it few nights ago when I fell asleep at 5am in the freeway and took a shoulder damaging the front end too. and losing the lip. my sway bar is trash. my front rims are bent. my radiator support is bent my AC condenser is popped. and missing all the plastics.

RemoLexi

im more focused on pulling my engine out next monday.

so were you just modifying the existing lip? or did you add seomthing? sorry im just really curious, going on that that rear lip came out pretty awsome in my opinion

RemoLexi
03-13-2007, 09:27 PM
Thanks! what do you mean by "exiting lip" ?

lewda
03-14-2007, 07:10 AM
like, were you modifiing the lip that was already on the car, or did you ad one from a different car

RemoLexi

I cut off the stock one, and mounted a CLK W208 lip onto the bottom of the impact strip. now that I got my MagnaFlow exhuast im in search for a new rear lip/continue my front one.

Im going to warn you - DO NOT USE STOCK EXHUAST with the CLK lip - it melted the edge off mine when I had it so you would have to either extend your stock exhuast outward or get a new one.

03-14-2007, 08:37 AM
ha i know all that stuff, i have a magnaflow i read that earlier, so you just used a stock W208 front lip for your front end? curious to have seen how that was

RemoLexi
03-14-2007, 08:39 AM
no for the front end im using an updated w202 lip BUT its getting a few of my finishing touches done to it.

just my opinion since i've had just about every body kit ever made for the W202...

the pre-update rear bumper is much more trim, and "understated" than the updated ones. what i mean by that, is the bumpers themselves don't stick out as far off the car, and the chrome strips on top of them are actually smaller from both models. i would honestly stick with the pre-update bumpers, and modify them as you started, because the body lines and sleek top trim really does give it a trully unique look.

if you had a modified rear with the understated bumper and lines with a modified face-lift bumper with the fatty trim and rounded, more bold lines i just don't think it'll come out as clean as you might be envisioning it.

also, what i meant by molding the rear bumper to hide the line - you can see in your pic that the pre-update bumpers have a really subtle line in the top portion of the rear bumper, and i meant by going with something similar. that way it doesn't leave it with that bubble butt look you're talking about, and still gives it that chiseled out look without having the seams to define the lines.
