Recently my tired had a lump on it due to a broken belt? So right now, I want to upgrade my rims to 18" and of course a new set of tires to go with it.

I want the Brabus Monoblock VI style rims. The cheapest I've found is Monet. I found it on this site. http://www.performanceplustire.com/products/packages/year/1997/makeID/279/modelID/3503/applicationID/4079/searchType/searchByVehicle/wheelSize/18/manufacturerID/89/wheelDataID/21092#prodAnchor

If you guys can help me make a decision, it would be highly appreciated.

Also, please comment on the brand Monet and the site Performance Plus Tires.

I want those rims in 18", Silver Finish (polish) and possibly 8.5" all around? What tires would you guys go for on that list? My choice of tire right now is the Toyo Proxes 4 or Falken FK-452. Both these sets come shipped for about $1300. Well this set up rub with 225/40/18 all around?

This is my first time purchasing wheels.

Anyone here have a set of Monet wheels? Is that site trust able?

Thanks.

And yes, i know to search, but I want replies on my own thread instead of asking on someones thread.

Rubbing from what I've read is not an issue on most set-up's.

PTP seems to be trustworthy(I called them like 5 time's trying to get a set of VI's and some other's.

The problem is I don't think anyone has any monet wheels in silver in 8.5 all around. I know because I was trying to find them for 2 week's I called every site and ebay place. (They said would be about a month before they get anything. I believe monet is out of wheels right now (at least the carlson and VI reps.

These guys

Have them in silver in 8.5 all around and there dirt cheap. I actually went to there warehouse (I live about an hour away). And it was all excellent service, Just make sure you YELL that you want 8.5's all around as they had me set up for staggered and I was like no. So I reccomend them, they are nice wheels and cheap as shit.

I have seen that store before. Did you purchase your set of Monet from them? It seems kinda pricey, 900$ rims plus i will have to purchase a set of tires which will cost about 600$
But I don't want a staggered set up... due to tire rotation and different tire sizes. Although it will look nice.

Those rims look great, but i find they suit a W203 far better than a 202, but then i've only seen them in 17"

Nelson
Go with the split rims definately... firstly they look better. Secondly, they're usually lighter than the monos, which will improve your handling and performance by having a lighter unsprung weight

Benzon, have you purchased from them? Are they good?

Do you have any pics of the rims you purchased?

Also, if anyone knows another other trust able sites with good prices, please let me know.

I would of purchased from them but they didn't have any of the wheels I wanted. Was looking for FRABUS (Monet) III's and VI's. I got a camera phone pic of my wheels and after I get my car back will take some much better quality photos. Say hopefully tomorrow night, but maybe have to be Wednesday.

Heres the camraphone pic.

Where did you purchase those from?
Are those 18x8.5? who made those?

Those look good.

Benzon
03-18-2007, 07:40 PM
Like I said everywhere I called had no 18x8.5 all around except OE Wheels based out of sarasota florida.

There Ebay=
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-8-5-9-5-Mercedes-benz-C-CL-CLK-E-S-SEL-SE-SLK-wheels_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ43958QQitemZ2900 95302201QQrdZ1

I drove down there and paid cash for them and took them home, they were in a box branded with there company name, the wheels say nothing about who made them. Like I said before too, Everyone who carries Monet didn't have 8.5's in silver with et35. (When I was calling every distributor in the country about 5 days ago.)

Alright, thanks. I will try and give PPT a call tomorrow. If they don't carry them, I will call OE Wheels.

Also, do you know the weight of these wheels are?

Thanks Benzon

Well, Ijust called PPT and they said it will take about 4 weeks for them to be in stock and another week before I will receive them, I will give the eBay store a call and see what tires they have.

Benzon, what kind of tires do you have?

Benzon

Cheap ass Kumho ECSTA SPT's, Trying to keep extra cost's over my repairs down. (As repairs were a shit load.)

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=ECSTA+SPT&partnum=24YR8KU31XL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&place=4

Tire rack shipping is amazing 1 day.

The best rated tires on there are made by general and there super cheap. But I figure the kind of people that buy REALLY cheap tires don't know about performance. Just wish I could of afforded more.

You'll need 225/40/18 and OEW should be able to hook it up with a Wheel and Tire package.

(I posted this next bit in the wrong
thread ment to go here a post back.)

I don't remember, but I also don't remember them being heavy. I don't know the exact weight of mine but They were deffinately light for there size.

I think the average weight of this style wheel is about 25 pound's.

I'll have pics up sometime this week should get my car back today. CAN'T WAIT.

Oh and just so you know, the Monet reps have 4 screws in between each split spoke and the real wheels from Brabus only have three.

SEE differences.

I think i will go with your same set up since $$$ is a concern for me.

As for the comparison, I have asked Monet myself why they have 4 studs in between the spokes, and they told me the 4 studs are on 19" and 3 studs are on 18".

You guys think this will work on our W202? I know the size will fit but does anyone know if ET34 rear and it looks like ET30 in the front? will fit?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MERCEDES-AMG-WHEELS-C55-CLK-E-C43-E55-E320-E430-W209_W0QQitemZ280094703589QQcategoryZ43958QQrdZ1QQ cmdZViewItem

The price is pretty cheap too! What do you guys think? He said its painted but does it look OEM or Painted?

Benzon

The offset on 2 of them (front or back) is 34, and I can't tell from the pic, what the other is. EDIT: On closer inspection there 34 all around which is usually great.

My car is just problem after problem as far as getting it back, but hoping will be tomorrow or thursday, will post pics when I get it.

WOOT! I just found this shop that sell the rims I want. AND IN MACHINE FINISH! Benzon, you were right about many shops not carrying the machine finish wheels.

This shop is located 40mins away from me and i gave them a call, very nice people.
The price is 740 for 4 18"x8.5". Tires, they carry a wide variety of names. I will probably go down there this weekend and get them!

Here is a link to their ad.

If anyone can spot that they look different than Brabus Mono VI's, please tell me, as I want the closest possible. Although, I don't see much difference between the two and other companies.

Nope look's like them, head's up though I ordered some brabus center caps off ebay, and they wernt large enough diameter. Although they should of been perfect they were too small or my hubs too big. Either way one flew out. Really annoying as the caps I got which where the same size (or not i guess) Fit fine.

Hey guys, i just looked this shop up and they seem to have a very good rep on mbworld.org!

Now i have another question. I have a C280 Sport and my car seems pretty high.
With 18s coming soon, do you guys think it will fill up some of the gap from my 15" rims? I mean, I dont want a monster truck look after the 18s at put on.

Does anyone have any pics of 18"s on stock suspension?

Do you guys think pads will make it sit right above the tire?

Please help!

Bump?

Getting the rims pretty soon, would like some input.

I have read how to find the bumps, but i could not feel them. The rears seem to be hard to find too. Anyone have pics with circles as to where the bumps are locateD?

dont think 18's will fill up that gap, the overall entire tire should be the same size. 18's you're just getting more rim and less tire

I got my rims in 18"x8.5" all around ordered today along with some Kumho Ecsta SPT 225/40/18 tires to go with. I got them at CarLab Motorsports in Santa Clara, CA. Total was little less than $1300. I will be picking these up on Wednesday.

Yeah I knew they looked good and they looked ok off my car,but damn when I slapped them on there and dropped it, I was like oh my god.

Good luck with your wheels and tires, don't forget to post up pic's. What did they charge you for those tires? I paid 639 for wheels, caps, and lugs, then 400 for the tires, the about 80 bucks for the mounting and balancing.

97C28O
03-25-2007, 08:08 AM
$750 18x8.5 All around
$400 Kumho Ecsta SPT 225/40/18
$50 Chrome Lug Nuts (shorter)

Mount and a Balance is free and the Caps, I think they come with the rim because on the shelf, it was already put on, they said nothing about the caps so I guess it comes with it?

I guess you had a deal there Benzon, however, I'm fine with these since these are local and I can deal with them locally and it's a place that actually carries them not like other stores...

Definitely will post pics when I get them.

The only problem now is that I think my car will sit high. I asked them about pads and they said they sell pads for $8 each and $45 each installation. So that is about $215 to get pads installed. With that price I might as well get some Eibachs, H & R or Koni for that price and get them to install it for the 1.5" drops, instead of the .5inch drop from pads.

Benzon

Yeah, I had some other work being done on my car so I didn't really have to pay labor to get my springs put in (The Ass was already dropped out) . And my deal was local too, but I would of payed anything almost to get them, after searching all over and finding nothing and literally needing new wheels so it all worked out.

This isn't my car, just a 202 without a drop.

Would definitely get some eibach's or whatever if you had the means. So sexy dropped on MBVI's.

That looks really high!

One thing I forgot mention is that where can i get a the TOOL SET for the spare tire online? When I took out my spare tire to carry my non spare when I get my new rims I noticed that it was missing from the Jack area. Since my new rims require new lug nuts, does it matter what wrench I get?

Benzon
03-25-2007, 09:54 AM
Heh that's good thinkin, would depend if your new lugs are just a different length or if there different all together. But you can find the tool bag's on ebay sometimes.

Here's what I'm workin with.

Well, these rims were also hard to get.... CarLab had to order them for me and when I called them, they said the shipment of rims came in on friday. So I drove down there thinking it was there, nope, i was wrong. My rims weren't in the crate that was suppose have it. So then he called the warehouse up and they told him they were out of stock and he called other shops and they were out too... So I had no choice but to get a refund on my deposit. Then the phone rang and the distributor said they found a set of 18x8.5 and i would get it on tuesday. So i called in to see if they were there on monday, yes they were. I called in tuesday to double check and pick up my rims, rims are there but no tires. They said today, wednesday, so lets see what I will get today, no tires? or nothing? So while i was talking to Darwin about the rims when i went on friday, he dropped the price of the rims from 750 to 640 because of the delay. So, i don't know whats going to happen today. I really hope I get these rims though...
