I was walking to my car from church this morning when I hit unlock and got in, but my girl friend didn't. I saw her door was still locked so I hit unlock again and nothing happened.

All the doors work except the passenger door. I can hear the leak in the door and the vacuum working overtime to try to get it open.

This shouldn't be too difficult of a fix, but I really don't know where to begin. Can someone point out some detailed instructions on replacing a leaky vacuum hose in a w202 door?

I'm pretty handy, just limited on time. I want to make sure I have the necessary parts to fix it once its taken down as well.

Thanks in advance!

first you need to isolate the area where you hear the vacuum leaking. its most likely going to be coming from that door. if thats the case, then you'll need to remove the door panel, and inspect the vacuum line and the lock actuator, which is the most likely cause. search the site on how to remove the doop panels, it been covered several times before.

Once I locate the leak, is the line repairable or should I looking replacing the entire section?

If repairable, how would you recommend I repair it?

Thanks again for your help.

it depends. if the vacuum line is broken, then you can replace that section with another piece, and if the actuator is leaking, you can either remove it and epoxy the seam(which is where it usually leaks) or if that doesnt work, replace the actuator.

I had a chance to take to door panel off today and found that the hose is in good condition right up to the point where the line connects to the lock assembly. The problem I'm running into is that I can't see past the frame to know where the leak is coming from, but I can hear it very loudly. It sounds like it is coming from a point just above the latch mechanism inside the door. I can't get to it and I don't have any expertise at drilling out the rivets necessary to being takedown of the door. Mercedes only sells the lock assembly as a chunk... and I don't really want to dump money into this car as it is old and starting to rust anyhow. When I pull the lock pin up and down, I can feel that there is a leak in the mechanism as it is easy to move up and down. Sometimes there is enough pressure to push the pin up, but not to pull it down.

Any ideas? I really could use a diagram and a place to get parts.

Thanks

i had the same problem for a month or so up until yesterday. all my doors would lock and unlock except the my drivers door would take 15-20 seconds longer to lock. i would be able to hear the pump working overtime and i can hear air coming out of the passenger door. would a leak in the passenger side door be the problem of my drivers side door not working as it should be?
now i guess my pump finally gave out because nothing works anymore, not even the trunk. you can hear the pump barely working. i have to manually lock and unlock all the doors when leaving and coming to my car. my car feels like a damn honda civic dx except the honda has more luxury because it has a key hole on the passenger door and mine doesnt. im guessing it finally fried the damn thing. i hope its not expensive.. anyone ever have to replace the whole module in the trunk?

>>im guessing it finally fried the damn thing. i hope its not expensive.. anyone ever have to replace the whole module in the trunk?<<

I believe this is the part number for the pump module: 2108001148

OEM Parts Direct quotes:

Item Number MSRP Core Price Price
2108001148 $672.00 $0.00 $551.04

Trunk lid - Lid and components - Vacuum pump
Vacuum pump 1998 - 2000

You may be able to find it elsewhere for less but I could not get the listing to come up easily on the usual part websites.

There was a post on one of the forums where someone took the module apart and was trying to replace the motor. I don't know if the person was ever able to source a suitable replacement motor.
