I have never changed a front crank seal, can someone please tell me that it is a do it yourselfer and maybe give some pointers on what to do. I read a diy article on mercedesshop.com for timing cover reseal is this the same thing? even though the motors are different. I have an m104 the article is on m103. help meeeeeeeeee

Alright children, settle down, daddy is home.:D
even though the crank seal is not that hard to get to and to replace, you will need some strong power tools and possibly a second person to help you to remove the crank pulley bolt, not to mention you will need to mark the timing correctly before you take it off. so as you can see, its not a DIY job. if you are not experienced and have never done this before, I strongly suggest you take it to a shop and let them take care of it. Expect about 4-5hrs of labor and about $25-$30 for the seal itself.
