disconnecting the door beeper ?

you guys know that annoying door beeper - when the keys are in the ignition it beeps ..? How do I disconnect it ? its making me crazy I cant stand it.

its inside the gauge cluster mounted to the circuit board if im not mistaken

yep its in the cluster sadly your going to have to deal with it or you can go def its the only option

its a combination buzzer/relay behind the cluster, it can be removed, but you wont have any dome lights and a few other things. what I did is I took the relay apart and broke off the buzzer part and put it back. no more annoying buzzer and the relay still worked.

I am not sure if the buzzer is the same on your 98 C230, but on my 95 C280 it was either the first or the second relay on the left side right behind the cluster. its either the siemens or bosch one, the other hella one is the horn. if I remember correctly, the relay housing had slits. hopefully that helps.:)

I have an extra cluster exactly like the one in my 97' C230. I checked it and it have nothing at all, just a board and a bunch of bulbs. I will be working on a similar car today doing Speedo work on it ill see if I completly take out the cluster and if still makes beeping noise then there must be another located in the later models.

if theres some sort of tweeter looking part should I clip it or are there any risks of loosing other features?

I just popped mine out. took 25seconds after the cluster was removed. anyone intrested in a How-To ??

very easy if you can take your cluster off. i love how I dont have that annoying sound anymore! :)

no, I have music playing in the car + lights on at night and the door is left open while im next to the car talking to people it really bugs the shit out of me. thank god its gone!
