Hi all,

My 1997 C180 is so underpowered it'll soon be faster if I push it. It's got to the point where it struggles to make it up hills (and pinks/pings while under load). I've changed the MAF sensor and checked compression (OK) but I'm running out of ideas. Am I expecting too much (are all C180's like this?) or what should I check next?

Thanks,

Brian

Change/check the spark plugs to Denso Iridium plugs and run Magnecor wires and put some fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank (Chevron with Techron)...if you feel adventurous, try some Sea Foam in the crank case, then immediately change your oil. Are you running Mobil One synthetic?

If you want to improve performance a little, try building a cold air (search under my name - cold air intake)...I felt some better throttle response after doing this mod.

a nice synthetic oil always takes away the pings for a good while.
