Zade Faraj made a really good tutorial in regard to removing the dash on the w202. This is a long and tricky procedure. Many w202 owners will have to go through dash removal to solve heating and air conditioning problems when the vacuum control system goes bad (most air control handlers are vacuum operated and the vacuum tubes develop leaks with age). Dealers charge massive $$$ for this. If you are adventerous, Zade has put together a good tutorial that should help you get the job done.

For a long time, he hosted it on a website and you will see references to this site in various posts. He no longer has a place to host it and the page link has been dead for a few months. I was able to contact him and today he has put up the html file plus all of the associated pictures to a download site. I don't know how long this file will be available and it is a huge zip file with 15 mb of data, so it cannot be emailed to most email accounts. Therefore, I encourage people to download this file NOW and have it on hand just in case they run into a problem that requires removal of the dash.
