I just boughtg my first Mercedes about 6 hours ago, and I do not really know anything about them, so I have a couple of questions about lowering. First Off I have a 2000 C230.

I want to lower my car, i have 18 in wheels on 245/40 tires, any suggestions?
from reading posts here it seems about half and hlaf on whether replacment shocks are needed?
Cups? i am definitaly lost here, do all 202's come with the same cups stock? if no, how do you know what you have? where do you get new cups, dealer only?

thanks for you help, until i get into this car i am mercedes retarded!

congrats...

245/40 is too wide for the front.. 235 or 225 is what you need. you can fit up to 255/35 in the rear. Fender rolling/bumper shaving is a must if you dump your car.

It's true you won't need to replace the shock right away but you will eventually.. unless your shocks are bad already.

"Cup" is referring to the Cup kit from H&R which are springs and matched shocks. I have H&R and bilstein shocks which I love. Research more and you'll know what you need to get.

Good luck and enjoy your W202.

I think that by "cup" in this case he's referring to the rubber spring pads. Use "spring pad" as a search term, and you'll come up with a lot of good information.

Yeah..I too bought my 230k with 28,000 & Starmarked from the dealer..
Finally... after 2 long years of stalling. I got my AMG monoblocks put on today...All I need now is new exhaust tips and then I will rebadge the vehicle to C23K
