1994 c280

I thought this would be pretty straight forward. Drain coolant, remove 3 hoses, remove two cooler lines. Remove fan shroud, two clips and pull up...wrong.

Now it is not coming out. Are the two electric fans attached attached to the radiator? They seem to all be connected.

If anybody can give me steps to take this thing out it would be greatly appreciated. I want to get this thing back on the road, I miss driving it!!!

Thanks.

there are 2 10mm nuts that secure the condenser lines to the radiator. they are in at the bottom of it on the inside. some radiators also have threaded blocks on top of them that a 10mm bolt goes into them to secure the condenser and fans to it. other than that, I think thats it.

Thanks, I saw those right away. Looks like it is also attached to a small black bracket.

I don't see anything that fits that description. But if I look at the front of the electric fans I see two (maybe 8mm) nuts on the left, one in the middle and two more on the right that appear to be holding the fan to the radiator. Could that be it?

How do I access those blocks?

they are in the slots right at the top of the radiator, you cant remove them before you unbolt the 10mm bolts from them. I'll try and look for a radiator with such setup and post a pic.

the metal block isnt in there because you have to transfer it to a new radiator(they dont come with it), but you can see the slot and the hole for it.

also, if your radiator doestn have this, and you removed everything else, it might just be a case of baked on rubber mount down in the radiator support. all you have to do is push on the radiator through the mount holes and it should give.

Alright dude, you saved the day.

For future reference for the rest user I took some pictures.

To access the two 10mm bolts I had to undo 3 other 10mm bolts to lift up body metal. After you posted the pic, I used my shop light and could just barely see them.

After that, the radiator came out in a snap. Just a little bit of wiggle to get it out. Notice new belt.

No dragging my knuckles across the radiator this time-fan clutch goes right in! (Stop tonight and set to proper torque tomorrow before getting it all back together.

Again, big thanks to jnenad16 on this, you really helped a guy out.

Also, thanks to Mrs. Punk who patiently, albeit begrudgingly held the shop light and snapped some pics for me to show you guys.
