Did a search but could not find a definite answer to my issue.
Could someone kindly expand on when the engine cooling fan turns on?
From what I have read through searching the site , the fan is temp. driven. So I ask, at what engine temp is it suppose to activate the fan ? My car reached needle width before 100 and when I checked the cooling fan it was not running. I had never paid attention when it would kick in and now I want to find out.
Todays weather temp in my area hovered in the upper 50's to 60 degrees and so seeing my temp reach close to 100, I figured there could be something wrong with my cooling fan . Now this rise of temp happened in traffic, when I did start rolling the temp slowly decreased which I know is a Mercedes trait as our temp gauge is mechanical and not electrically driven . But perplexed to see a 98 reading on my engine temp. gauge when outside weather was cool. Is this Normal or something faulty ?
Any input would be appreciated. TIA
