W210 Cluster Conversion

Well i guess it just seemed alot easier than it really is. I bought a 210 cluster off ebay for about $50 and its pretty good. Clock pixels are a little screwed up. Not that bad..

However, it says something like cluster malfunction? And only the gas needle works?
Whats going on here? How can i fix this?

How did you modify the cluster? Or did you just plug it in?

I just plugged the thing in.. Thats what it said. I have no idea what to do..

Cant find my camera, but there are plenty of pics on the internet.

Well now that i figured out i need a 208 cluster it kinda helps. I have a 208 AMG cluster that i got for free. Well it seems i have the same problem with this cluster. Same errors and same fitting problem. Does anyone know what year clusters will fit into these cars...?

Alright, now i have like 4 clusters sitting here that do me no good. I wanna try something cool... How can i get the clear plastic front off the rest of the housing?



Also just threw the W208 cluster in my sisters updated 280 and the whole cluster works... So that means when i get my 230K everything will be fine... Thank god...

so a 208 cluster will work in my 99 c280? what year 208? i'm guessing the update model with digital displays?

My cluster does need replacing...however who can program the mileage?

I changed my cluster to the C43 AMG cluster and to keep my mileage I changed out everything but the electronic panel.

When you put the W208 cluster in your car did your cars mileage come up or was it the mileage from the donor car? Just wondering if they are still keeping the mileage on the cluster.

Its the milage on the cluster and one it goes past 100km its set in stone from what iv heard. Or you need to get that special mercedes tool thing that uses a laptop and is only available to dealers... Ill have to look into it.

by changing a couple of sensors and some wiring (def. not worth it!)...upgrading to a modelupdated 97 and using that 210 or 208 cluster in there (both work as long as one knows how to code it) in combination with a MF steering wheel will be cheaper

Only problem is that the milage is way off. Is there anyway at all to get it set to my own instead of the 40k its at right now. Also what kind of sensors and wiring would i have to change?
I have full access to Mercedes Star Wiring and WIS-net. So i have alot of info, just a little stumped..

Well i bought a new cluster with 140k miles on it and thought i would be set, but its from a 97 and they use can bus so thats just one more useless cluster sitting here that i cant do anything with.. Im soo tired of this car..

Well as soon as i sell this car i get a 99' C230K from my parents and then im on my own for cars. Im sure you can see why i would want to sell my car asap. Well i friend the guage cluster (dont wanna know) and now the hunt for a 96 one is driving me insane. I cant use 97 and above because they are CAN-bus and 95 and below use 2 different style connectors.

I just bought a "95" one off ebay with the 2 big connectors so i thought it was a late 95. Well they lied and its a 97. So now i have 2 97 clusters and my broken 96 cluster, then 2 W208 clusters and one W210 AMG cluster.

I think i might just drive my car off a cliff. Its going to cost me $500 to get the cluster fixed. Not even worth it. I think i might just sell the car with the broken one. Sucks that you have no instrument pannel though...

Hmm ... when I test fitted my W210 and W208 clusters they worked flawlessly - although the pixels were screwed .
