Hey guys, Donno what happened this morning...it was quite cold, turned the ignition, the car started, but only ran for about half a second, then it died. i then tried again and it did this about 5 times. on the 6th attempt, i floored the accelerator pedal while turning the ignition and then it came alive, after about 20 seconds of spluttering...foot flat on the gas all this time, rpm only at about 600. then started the car again after about 5 miles, and no trouble at all.
This is the first time this has ever happened to me. She ALWAYS starts first time.
What could the problem be?

Uh oh... that's how it started from me when I cleaned my K&N and used too much oil. Then it started stalling @ stoplights. Then tranni shifting problems... etc. There's a good chance it's something else instead (I don't know the V6). Just an FYI you might have to clean your MAS.

I have the inline 6...
I'm quite sure it isn't the MAS...I'm leaning towards the CTS tho. Are these expensive?
What else ya think it could be? As i say, it's only at cold start...once it's warm it runs perfectly

i have the same problem sometimes.
only when cold it splutters and puffs out lots of black smoke(fuel rich) im thinking its to do with the cold start injector, or as you say maby the maf sensor
edit: you put this in performance tuning and repairs, dont double post mang

Ya about the double posting, realised i made a mistake when i posted it under performance, so put it in repairs, hoping that the moderators would cancel the performance thread.
Update: Tried a cold start last night and had no trouble at all. This means the problem is intermittent (the worst!)

Donno bout the smoke, but there was a smell as if the fuel mixture was very rich. did you have to press the accelerator to start the car?
