I believe you re gonna need a spacer because the wheel will scrape on your shock. I have 18x8.5 ET 35 (larger ET) and its like 5mm from touching it.

make sure you get hubcentric rings though, because VWs, Audis, have a different size bore than our cars do.

Looks like he got the answer he needed, so this shouldn't be considered thread jacking I hope. :)

I've got the same concern for my new rims: 17x8, 35mm offset, 5x112mm bolt pattern, 66.56mm centerbore.

Rears fit fine, but fronts look too close to call.

The first one is new rim. It fits, but my concern is that the bolt might rub the top of the tire.

Here's some pics.

The second pic is shot across the top of the original tire on the stock rims. This give an idea of how high the new tires will be on the new rims I think.

Comments anyone.

But isn't Carlsson specifically made for MB's? I believe it's the other way around. VW, Audi's need centering rings to fit their hubs.

I will be checking out the rims this weekend and hoping they are clean , i.e. clean of nicks and curb rashes

I use to have MB Evolution II wheels on my C. They were 17x8-1/4 with an ET of 34. Had no rubbing issues whatsover up front with them. Tire size used were 225/45/17. So basically that's a quarter inch wider and a mm closer to the shock.

That's the size I was looking to put on.

My searches all indicated that this setup should work. But once I have tires mounted, the rims can't be returned. That's why I figured I'd double check first.

I'll bow to conventional wisdom however. Let you know how I make out.

My brother ran hubcentric rings with his Carlsson 1/6s on his C43. I'm not sure why that is?

interesting, because I do have a set of 1/6- not the evos, and they are direct bolt on, on a W210.
