trasnmission problem

ok, well earlier today, i floored it from a light and i noticed that teh transmission seemed to have acted different, like it jumped a gear, like it had gone from 2nd to 5th or 4th, anyways, it didnt seem or sound right. So later tonight, i just did a u-turn and floored it again (illegal u-turn) and the transmission shifted fine, then as soon as it went to the next gear, it like got like stuck in a gear, the engine was revving real high, and this loud screeching/grinding noise, almost like the sound when you turn the key to a car thats already on, i let off the gas, and looked at the gear box and noticed that my gear shifter was bumped up, it was like in the middle of D and N, and i dont know if its always been like that, but its really loose now, when its in N or D, when its in D, i can put it back in that same spot it went into when the tranny acted up, and when its in N, its real easy to move around, like its loose, anyone had any expeirence with this?

Yup you need to change your shifter bushings...its a 5cent part literally and a mechanic charges nothing to change them (mine didnt)...after that the shifter will be firm and stay in place.

could that cause the thing to out rev like that and make taht weird grinding noise? Im gonna bring the car by the shop tomorrow, and see what the deal is. I hope there isnt a problem with the tranny.

well have to wait until monday to get the dude at the shop to look at it, has any one at all expeirenced this? or at least something similiar? or know what the problem is? I searched and couldnt find much other than just replacing the bushing, and other tranny slip issues, the tranny just seems to be kinda weird righ tnow

Best to have it looked at if in doubt and keep us posted. These transmission are crap anyways.

are the 97 230 transmissions the same as the 98 230 trannies?
the same 722.6?
