ok, is it the K&N cone filter, or the drop in filter that is known to damage the MAF, or both?!

It's not just KN, but all oil filters that can do that. I have a drop in one on my car, no damage at all. I did, however, clean the MAF after about 500miles with the filter.

so if i got a real K&N airfilter to replace the stock one (just for stock fitment not the cone) what does that mean, should i be worried about the MAS?

i highly doubt a oil based filter would damage anything unless its been over oiled.

if you want a filter upgrade why don't you just get a dry type filter which doesn't need to be oiled?

I suppose another option would be buy K&N and before installing it is to wash it to remove all the oil, then when dry re-oil it with a very fine mist layer.

i have heard of oil-based filters damaging MAF. why not just purchse a weapon*R dry intake? you don't have to bother cleaning the maf every few months...

i had k&n filter on my car for some time before i decided to remove it, because i had enough of it sucking hot air, besides that, it did not damage the maf or anything (knock on wood)

do you guys really need to buy a new MAF? cant you just clean your old one?

.... on a side note, I decided to buy a AEM dryflow filter, so that takes care of that :)
