Hey guys,

I want to know where I can find Eibach swaybars for cheaper than $409 shipped. Does anyone know where I can get a cheap set. I also want to know the stock diameter of the stock swaybars (I know eibach is 28mm front and 12mm rear). I plan on doing just spring pads for ride height and only swaybars for suspension, stock i hear is firm enough on the C36 so I just want to decrease roll (which is pretty bad on all mercedes).

I have a question for you. It seems like you want the cheapest solution, but that may not necessarily be the best solution. DO you want the best quality choice?? If I were you, i'd wait and save either for those Eibach sway bars, or the H&R Sway Bars ($468 shipped from tirerack) which in my opinion are the best.

Then again I'm not you so the choice is yours. Remember, the suspension is a critical part of any car, you don't want to cut corners when it comes to that

I was advised against fitting stiffer sway bars because the tuners said apparently they end up just making the ride considerably harder...

you misread what i wrote, read more carefully. I said I where could I find the cheapest set of Eibachs. I will only get Eibach sways. $468 shipped is expensive I have seen prices $50-60 less but I want to see if there is another place where I can get the Eibach sways for even less.

No, they don't affect ride harshess at all, they only affect the roll of the car, springs & shocks do that. The tuner was mistaken

i lowered my friends miata on eibachs one day, and it rode just fine.

Well, he got the bug and got a million strut mounts, sway bars, lower ties, basically $1500 of parts to increase rigidity with his financial aid check.

I rode in it and was dumbfounded. The car had practically no suspension, it was like riding in a wagon. Not a station wagon, but a fuckin' Oregon Trail shooting Ox riding ferries type of wagon.

Sure, it cornered like it was on tracks but it also popped a wheelie when it hit a painted line. That motherfucker was STIFF.

In my view no manufacturer wants any roll in their suspension design... and since all of them have it there must be some kind of trade-off...

In other words, if there was no down side to stiff roll bars, all cars would have them from the factory...

Eibach anti-roll/swaybars are no longer in production. I would buy a set while you can from old stock; I know tirerack no longer has them available as I bought their very last set back in May '06.

While on the topic, another solution would be to have some made if you're looking for the thickest sways available. Do a search for Speedybenz, as he had a solution 1-off for his project W202s. (C280, C43, C43-55). The eibach sways are thicker than the H&Rs though.

Crap, are you sure they don't make swaybars for it anymore? or tirerack just doesn't carry them anymore... that sucks :( . Oh well I'll have to figure something out. Ya eibach sways are always better than H&Rs they just do a better job (plus i've always used them and been VERY happy).

Sways increase suspension stiffness only on angled inclines and declines (if stiff enough two wheels will actually come off hte ground) but as far as actual ride stiffness... its not affected.

Actually Eibachs are the best, and they are larger diameter :) 0 for 2 ;) . But ya im sure H&R are good as well, if one is discontinued i may have no choice but to go with the other. I'll just have to see.

On regular roads where you have undulating tarmac from the left to right side of the lane, and potholes, it becomes noticeable. It's a boon in the twisties however in keeping the car stable.

Seems $409 shipped is a decent price then. As a C43 owner (same with C280 Sport owners as they're the same sway bars stock), I'm still thinking about it. While only an extra 0.5mm thickness in the front, an extra 2mm thickness in the rear. That's quite an increase. Facts & figures from here:

http://www.club202.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=656&highlight=sway+bar
Though I should be realistic and recognize cost is too high for only realizing an advantage in rear stiffness....

Anyway, not hi-jacking. Just sharing with C280 Sport and C43 owners something I just learned off the archives of this board.

im thinking this may help tire rubbing the fender edge at a high-speed sharp turn situation where I get to see the tire smoking from rubbing the fender and lots of lovely dents on the edge of the fender.
