View Full Version : how to removal rear license plate screws?

ive tried everything so far, and the thing still wont budge. trying to get the plates off so i can transfer them to a GS300 so i can drive it back down to my house. tried screwdriver, pliers, hands and they dont come out, i think the holes that the screws are in are dulled out. any help is appreciated

Do they turn? If they just turn but dont come out try pulling the plate away from the car while turning them out. If they dont turn you can get an impact driver from a parts store and that should do it.

they just keep turning and wont come out, tried pulling the plate but now the plate is all bent :p.

What works sometimes is pulling the plate to put presure on the screw and then turn out while keeping pressure on it, is that what you tried.

remove the trunk lid liner on the inside of the trunk by pulling out the black plastic rivets then just use vise-grips or a pair of pliers to hold the metal from the inside while you remove your screws. this happened to me on my 97' when someone used a SAE screw in a metric hole.
