I did a little searching but nothing relevant came up for my M111 motor... Also sorry for not being good with the technical terms sometimes.
The story goes back a while ago when I had my block flange and sparkplugs changed. The car couldnt cold start properly and the ignition was trying for 3-4 secs, and finally it would start wobly and bouncy for a second until it was working fine. If I turn it off and try again its all normal. Another thing is that even though the fuel pump is normally working for like 2 secs when you turn the key and then stops, mine can do it for more than a minute (or eternity) without stoping! Meaning that there is not enough fuel pumping into the engine I guess?
So I went to a repair shop and the guy told me that it was either the membrane (fuel pressure regulator?) from that thing that sprays fuel into the engine or the fuel pump. So he installed another used "fuel sprayer" and the car was still making the same stuff, then he installed mine back on.
I then took the car to the stealership and they changed both the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel pump over the times I went there but my car is still doing the same thing and the stealer cant fix it!I already went there 3 times and every time they said that the problem was solved but same thing next morning. What is the problem? :dpress:

i am experiencing the same problem . the car has difficulty cold starting and kinda shakes hard while starting. had it last year than disappeared and now it's back again.
i suspect it could be the fuel filter but not sure. any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way i have a 99 c230.

Well I had my fuel filter replaced a couple of months ago with a new one so I dont think thats the problem. I will take it to the dealer tomorrow for the 4th time to put my old fuel pump on again and take back my money. After that im in the darkness so please please help me not spend any more money!

Could it be the L5 Sensor? Anyone?

With the cooler weather in Aus I have started having a similar experience on the first start of the day.
I think I will swap throttle bodies and install my spare and see if that makes a difference.
NEA, just remind me , what is the L5 sensor?

Yesterday I had a discussion with a guy who used to work as a mechanic/engineer for mercedes and italian brand fiat etc etc and he told me that its most definitely the valve which is shaped like a rather small screw with holes around it or something and it mounts between the fuel pump and the tube where the fuel travels in. Yeah, sorry for my lack of technical terms.
The stealer was closed today though because a member of their board, some 76 yo old lady died. Tomorrow it issssssssss then. Ill keep you informed guys just so you know.

day 13 and my car is still inside the stealers den. They were experimenting with a multi-relay of some sort located in the ECU box (black plastic on top left corner) but they come up with nothing... Now they ve changed the cables that look like a pony tale :p and still nothing. So today I was informed that they will try to find a used ECU to put on and see what happens. They currently dont have a new one but even if they did, I wouldnt want it, costing around 2000 Euros itself... I cant believe what has happened to my car for no reason... :bored:

This problem is so weird, it seems to be a common C230 problem. I've done the fuel pump and fuel filter with no luck. If you've done the Fuel Pressure Regulator with no luck then I'm not going to throw $100 out the window...
Its going to help a lot of people when this problem is finally solved...

This is the same problem I was posting about, that I have. It is still doing it and only on the first start of the day. Only fuel related things ive done were fuel filter and spark plugs to no avail.
For those who get it fixed PLEASE post.:)

Day 24 today and they finally said they found My problem!!!
Apparently I had my head gasket replaced when this started in another repairshop and the asshole didnt sychronyse my camshafts properly! He marked them before taking them out ofcourse so he only missed by little and when the revs were mild-high they were self - correcting themselves, thatswhy the problem only occured during first start.
They discovered it Friday noon, like an hour before closing time so I didnt have the chance to speak to them or speak to me today as they re probably still fixing - testing the thing. I will post more when I can. :)

Yeah it wasnt the camshafts either but after a month or so I picked up my car and after a long long time in the dealer they finally found the problem and fixed it. I hope. The problem was in two fuel nozzles! They changed them and everything works fine so far. If you are experiencing the same problem yourself, try that out but bare in mind that they are kind of expensive, around $200 each here.

Where are these fuel nozzles? My C230 seems to do this now only at certain times of the year...most worst when parked outside overnight and if it rains and is damp. In the garage.....NEVER.
Damn bitch is picky and spoiled.
