so today I was attempting to install my felt strips to protect the tint, I got to the point where the door panel was hanging off the power seat controls wires. Where do I go from this point? I see a plastic bag thing in the inside. Am I suppose to remove that? and where exactly do I apply the felt strips to? I would really appreciate your help:)

You add felt to the weather strip. Its a black rubber piece that goes on the inside of the window, right at the top of the panel. The piece just pulls right up. You might wanna sand the rubber strip and apply some rubbing alcohol to clean it up a bit. Then make sure you stick the felt on tight and straight! Good luck.

Is the felt really necessary? My friend has been rolling around with tint for the last 6 months with no probelms at all. I totally understand the argument, just want to be sure its worth it. LOL
Id love to see some pictures showing this.

Worth it? Well, the felt i got was only $10 from tinter101. And thats for all windows. Now, what happens if you get your W202 tinted and tints get scratched? Will the shop cover it or the tint manufacturer? Some shops may cover it under their own warranty but this type of cause is from the car and not from the shop's installation. If the shop is nice enough they would probably reinstall that ONE window that is scratched. If not, you would have to pay to reinstall tint on that one window or all if they're all scratched. And this makes it a hassle for you and the shop to do your car again.
Now, installing felt took me about 1 hour or so. Wasn't that hard installing them. Only hard part was pulling panels, trying not to break the clips that hold the panel up.
Now you decide. Felt or no Felt?

just got the felt done on the front two, kinda f*cked up on one of them, so I had to peel off the felt and redo it. This felt didnt come off easily, and made a mess. I had to goo-gone the glue off, then sand it again. I used my two back window felts put together to make a felt strip long enough for the passenger door ( the one i screwed up on).. yeah, so tinter101, im gunna need two additional back window strips:D
i think its well worth the effort to put the felt strips in !!
i got lazy and only did two of the four windows.. :(
now the two that don't have any felt are scratched up like crazy.
probably gonna have to retint it, when i could of jus taken a bit more time to do the other windows.

so the ones WITH the felt have no scratches on them at all? Do they really work that well?

Where does the felt go? Is it just little strips that go on the window seals at the bottom?

the felt goes on the part of the strip that touches the tinted part of the window. Its the rubber strip at bottom of the window when the window is rolled all the way up.

theres a member here, tinter101, selling a complete set for 10 bucks, thats where i got mine from. The felt he gave me is very sticky! and wont come off easily once you put it on, so I recommend using his set.

Hey guys, just saw this post.
I've got an update for the felt issue. I just tinted a '99 C280
a couple days ago and found that except for the driver door,
all the other doors had felt on the moldings from the factory.
I don't know why the driver door didn't. What this means for
us is that we have the option to order factory moldings with felt
if we choose. I will try to get part #'s and pricing and post it.
None of all the 202's I've tinted over the years have had felt,
including mine. If you don't have felt, you have to put it on or
your tint will scratch for sure. Trust me.
Send me an e-mail if you need a kit.
