C36 AMG compression down on 1 cylinder

Hi ive just bought a c36 amg with the engine out of the car. the compression is down on one cylinder. what could the possible problems be???? would i need to rebore the cylinder????

Is it possible to put a c230 kompressor engine into the c36 with minimal effort, im thinking plug and play??

I think the c36 is a c280 engine which is bored out. what about gettin a c280 engine and having it bored out?? im going to replace all the engine parts but there shouldn't be and damage to the actual cast iron engine should there?? it hasn't been in an accident, the bodywork is perfect


I dont know much about these cars so i need some help, surrently runnin a bog standard 1995 c180

Please don't touch the hand built AMG engine or replace it with a C280 engine.

Please have a mechanic look at the 36 engine and fix that before even thinking about swapping with any other motor. You have a gem of a car, my friend. Don't ruin it.

Low compression in one cylinder? Probably just a bad valve (exhaust valve the most likely culprit?). If it is, it will cost $14.39 (see below) plus labour plus a bunch of other parts like a head gasket and other gaskets for engine. Shouldn't be overly expensive and a much better option that trying to change the engine for another type!
