For those who are interested in clear lenses for headlights...

I spoke to people at

Plastic Supply Inc. (http://www.plasticsupplyinc.com/plasticsupplydenver/Page1.html)

and we are in process of fabricating w202 clear lenses for my 95 c class. If any of you are interested in obtaining a set... let me know.

Perhaps we can lower the cost in quantity.

Thanks :D

Sounds very interesting. So, wait my lenses will be clear? How will that work though?

Uhh, you can only do this if you are doing the projector headlight conversion right? Otherwise you will blind the shit out of everyone on the road with no beam pattern on the lense.

Scotty, that's what I was trying to say LoL.

Yes, projectors only.. thanks for clarifying! :)

Great work!

You have beaten me to the punch. I was going to pursue this with some companies as soon as I had time. I feel that there is a growing and potentially lucrative market for tastefully done aftermarket 202 products.

I am extremely interested in geeting a set and would like to join in on this. Will it just be limited to the clear lens covers, or will it include the projector type reflective back and bulbs (like a whole assembly)?

I currently just have the stock headlights that came on the 96 220 model. So I need to stay legal or close to it:-)

keep me posted on this one,
Jason

Jason,

I am buying a couple of dual projector headlights off Ebay... and will custom fit them into the 202 housing. It would be much simpler than Slammed C's I think. Quality wise, his would be better of course.

It would look like IS300.

Nokia,

My 'uncompromised' plan would be to utilize those staggered projector as in Maxima's head lights..but their assembly cost too much!!

Is that pic with the angel eyes photoshoped or actual? thats off the hook!!

Damn, that's just what I was thinking... either halos like the Bimmers, or sweet projector type with 2 to 3 bulbs.

I swear if someone developed something cool and classy they could make some profits.

I must have this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was looking at the lights in our 2002 Jetta (never did any measuring though) and it looked like with some modification you might be able to use them.

I would definitely be interested if the deal was for complete assemblies. I don't know if I would be up for modding a set for myself.. Sounds a little too complicated for me.

If you come up with a set of those angel eyes/ or demon eyes even id be all over that. thats a must have mod right there. yeah i dont know about modding it myself though. MAYBE with a really good tutorial but id much rather just get the whole assembly.

Nokia,

I need your favor once more. Could you fax or simply post an image of the front lenses for both pre and post 97 c class? I need to fax images to few different place.

PSF's price is abit steep and has 3 week turn around.

At 5 pairs, we are looking at $150/pr. I am hoping we could lower it to $50-70/pr. The lenses will be made from Polycarbon - same material on my passat headlight.

I surely appreciate your help.

Ken

I'm in at $150 even (if we must) as long as the rest of the materials I will need to make this mod won't cost a fortune ;)

I just ordered my Reiger body kit from RPI today. Should be down here on Monday or Tuesday... sweet!

Wouldnt this effect the beam? or is this to go with Xenon's?

CKlasse

For xenon application, you must use D2S projector seats.

Just a few words of advice to u all.. anyone that is considering building projector xenons for their W202 that is!! there is less room in those stock W202 headlight assemblies than u think!! I found that out.. its very difficult to put more than one projector in there.. a benz projector that is.. since I'm using ML500 Bi-xenon projectors for my project!! with all u talking about using nissan and VW projectors.. maybe u can fit them in easily.. dont know how big they r.. I only used Benz parts cause I can get them for free!! I didnt want to have to go out and buy anything. why not use OEM parts!! lol
good luck to u all.. and there r gonna be some crazy W202 running around with some sick headlights!! lets all post pics of our progress!!

No biggie, Nokia. It was a fender bender during a friendly race at the Stapelton - at turn #3. I shouldve known better than to test the suspension without the powertrain being completely finished.

The bad thing is that no insurance will cover this damage :(

Anyway, I have appointment on next tuesday for the fitting and finishing touch the cover! Hopefully, the result would be what I expected.

Stay tune for pictures!

LOL... too bad..The benz is not insured..neither is the other track car. No worries... I found most of the parts already.

The C is a project car. It spends most of its time on the lift if not the parking lot at work. I drive it once a while.. but it is far from being completely done. So I figure I would wait 'til everything is done and go through the emission test, and finally get it insured.

The M3 is my buddy's project car also. We just finished installing downpipe and catback that morning, and decided to go to the track to see what kind of suspension upgrade it would need. Then the accident happened.

He runs a small dealership, he couldve claim his damage on his commercial insurance. But both of cars' damages are at minimal considering what happened. I am just happy I didnt bent my rim.

I'm getting closer to being done!! I wired up my headlight last night.. and tried it today in my car.. just unpluged my stock headlight and pluged in my new one. I couldnt believe it either!! it actually works.. the xenon light up, then I flicked my high beam on and high beam xenon!! then I pulled out the knob for fog.. it worked too.. everything worked! I'll have to take pics of it working so u can see it!! looks a bit rough now.. all the bits r inside the headlight housing just sitting there.. next is to actually mount the projector in my headlight and glue it in place.

glue.. well epoxy the projector assembly into place in my stock W202 housing. kinda hard to describe. trust me!!

ur right.. I'm not sure what year it is.. 97+ might be right.. but the glass lense is replaceable on the headlight.. just for some reason the older 202's needed a whole headlight assembly if the glass was cracked.. such a rip off if u ask me!!

If you're still "collecting" forums, try these as well:

for mechanical advice... (http://www.mercedesshop.com/shopforum/index.php3?)
similar to MBWorld.... (http://benzworld.org/forums/)
more 203 than 202, but someday.... (http://www.mbklasse.com/forums/index.php?s=)
cell phones.... (http://www.mbklasse.com/forums/index.php?s=)
plumbing!.... (http://plbg.com/)

the plumbing one needs a little help, but I'm a big do-it-yourself-er, and am always on the lookout for expert help. now, if I could only find architecture and construction!

what kind of LED project? I'm a ways from NJ, but I've got a "project" in my instrument cluster:

mbLova

uhh the computer is not sending an "on" or "1" signal to that led, that means that it aint on literllay or the led could have just gone bust. those type of segmented displays, 7 segment led displays are trickey. takes a while to learn about those esp if they are in the heart of the cluster(like you have)ill work on it tomorrow and try to help you out

some segments "come and go", and another poster suggested I pull the cluster, open it up, and clean the contacts with alcohol wipes; made it sound really simple, but I'm not a "pull the cluster" type!

mbLova
03-04-2005, 04:23 AM
not a bad idea, you should try doing that, but i dont know how to pull the cluster. the contacts could have oxidezed b/c that does happen with the seat adjustment switches.

the led on the side is dying. you can try the previous suggested method, however continue with caution. These are made to not be tampered with, and if you try and open it up to replace the led(which you most likely have to do) you could cause something to fuck up.

in addition to this removing the cluster is a job in itself... it isnt hard but if you are unexperienced it may be difficult... it requires a special tool which can be subbstituted with bent coat hanger... and also you will need to remove your steering wheel as well which envolves a certain drill bit that can be used to unscrew the airbag... if you would like more info you can message me or you can search... good luck...
