i was just wondering,
if you kept the car at 3rd gear (automatic car with no tiptronic and has the 2-3-D function sort of gear box) are you damaging/killing the gearbox?

lets say if the car is a 4-speed automatic, but you're "manually" putting it on 3rd gear, and driving pretty hard. but not up the red line.

i know downshifting "manually" does, but how about it you kept it?
any comments?

of course, revving high in lower gears will wear the clutches faster, but as long as the fluid is in good condition and the level is proper, it should be fine in the short run.
