I need to remove my coolant expansion tank to clean it (has oil, yes i know).
There are 3 hoses connected , 2 have clamps, but the one near the cap doesnt. Anyone know if that one just pulls off? I assume thats the overflow.

yup, just pulls off. I had alot of rust in mine, there are chambers to it so i couldn't get everything out with the pressure washer.

I recently cleaned a plastic coolant expansion tank in a Ford that had oil and crud in it. I sprayed some Gunk engine cleaner in it, swished it around as I watched the Gunk dissolve the filth, and garden hosed it all out, and was pleasantly surprised at how clean it became.

Its so funny you mentioned that. ;) I was also having trouble getting the oil out of my expansion tank, until I sprayed some CRC mass air flow cleaner into it. (as a test). I've never seen oil turn to water before. The expansion tank was extremely clean afterwards.

If oil shows up inside your coolant tank, you'll be needing a head gasket or radiator soon. You can clean out the entire coolant system with Mercedes-Benz Citric cleaner. 000-989-1025
500G Tub. Good stuff. It flushes a lot of the gunk inside your coolant system
