Hey Guys, just got new tyres all round (awesome improvement) and an alignment.

Now when a turn left fairly sharply I get a uniform clunk clunk clunk noise with a bit of vibration.

Doesnt do it on sweeping lefts, straight or right.

Any ideas?

Hmm mines alittle rough when turning sharp at low speed...i guess its due to the front camber being alittle high and running 19's...

maybe your wheel bearing?....lower control joint?...

I get this too. But, so far I replaced:

LCA's to poly
Left and right upper control arms
Lower ball joints.

Car is quieter under braking, but I still get the clunking.:( It feels like i'm running over potholes.

make sure theres no rocks sitting on top of your top control arms and banging against the body as the suspension goes up and down.
happened to meand took ages to figure it out,

possibly a bent rim, maybe they moved one from the rear to the front when they did your tires..

Also check the lower control arm bushings.

I find when turning full lock at a slow speed the outer wheel tends to jump/loose traction...this sounds/feels like the ABS cutting in,but obviously isnt...the loss of traction may be due to the odd geometry after lowering...or it may be due to the tread pattern.
It that the sort of "clunky" sound...or is it more metalic?

As logan mentioned, maybe take the front wheels off and check for stones on the upper control arm between the bushing and chassis,+ any other spots that stones may sit.

oh and check your front sway bar(longshot)...was cruiseing in the evo to aux one time and couldnt work out what the clucky noise was evertime i turned......turns out the swaybar had snapped and one side was hanging by the left wheel so everytime i turned left it would swing up and hit the chassis.

$5 says it's your tires rubbing on the front sway bar for everyone posting in this thread :D

the "clunking" is the tire tread thumbing against the bar at full lock, since like 23k said; the geometry is very much different. we noticed this immediately after dropping my girl's W208. there's really no fix for this obviously, but if you're curious to see if that's the solution, just take a look at the sway bar and see if you notice a smooth spot rubbed on, or if it's taken the paint off.

hope that helps!

Rims are defo straight, car is factory AMG ride height, and control arm bushings have been done, haha

check engine mounts, check and see how much distance is there between your oil pan and the lower front sway bar, if its almost touching, you need new mounts. This happened to me, same clunking noise.

LOL

benzboy - have you looked at your sways? kept the same tire size and aspect ratio? any findings after checking the balljoints, tierod ends and wheel bearings?

It was caliper face rubbing on wheel on sharp lefts, when the tyre shop changed my tyres they swapped the front wheels around, and one wheel must have been ever so slightly different from the other so now one caliper wasnt ground back quite far enough.

I noticed as I could see the paint had been scraped off a little bit on the left side caliper.

Took the wheel off, shaved it ever so slightly, repainted it put wheel back on and now car is perfect :D
