So next week I am finally going to put my exhaust on. Car is a 1999 C280 V6.
I tried to find information on it regarding performance increases and a sound, but was unable to turn anything up.
What can I expect from it as far as performance and sound?
Total cost is going to be about $60 - $80 plus tip. :)

I had it for sale for awhile on here, but no one wanted it so now I'm just going to put it on.

you would have to do a full custom exhaust, somewhere between a 2.5" and 3" cat back to have anykind of gains. Just throwing on a muffler won't help (kinda but u won't notice).

I was planning on doing a straight pipe and eliminating the res

Well it's all relative to the otehr components. If the header/downpipe is stock then the most that can escape would be determined by those two.
If you do decide to upgrade the whole exhaust, make sure that you are not losing power from the loss of backpressure. I'd suggest measuring the backpressure before and after. I know some Member's here have looked extensively into this aspect.

the c230 exhaust is very complicated.........im sorry but im too use to american muscle cars. i have to take mines to a exhuast shop and see what needs to be there and what can be taken out, n e way people think bigger pipes equal bigger flow, which is true in most cases, but you also have to remember your car needs backpressure to run right. to lazy and sleep to get indept with it

Yes I understand that, this is why I am taking it to a family friend's shop. He specializes in Mercedes from repairing to tuning. So I am letting him do whatever he needs to do.
Should be on between Tues - Thurs depending on when hes free.
After the exhaust I'm probably just going to put my BBS rims back on and do Eibach springs then call it a day as far as the car goes.
Looks just like the C36 muffler with different tips...
(IMO)With any engine without a turbine your looking to keep exhaust volocity high enough to create a scavenging effect on the chamber, but not to high as to create too much back pressure...the common belief "engines need backpressure",SHOULD be "engines need the correct exhaust system to create optimum exhaust volocity at minimum back pressure"...There will be a fine line where to much of either will eat into your power band.
Cheers,
Paul
