There's a lot of exhaust out there to choose from. If I were you I'll be satisfied with your AMG for now. ;)

take out the resonator and the after cats, if you can get away with it... :)

well.. you could remove what jnolte said (cats and resonator, or maybe one or the other) but just have a 3 hole flange welded on to the ends of whatever your removing, that way you can jack your car up, and put the cats back in when its smog time, then remove the cats and bolt in the straight pipe when your done. As long as your Mercedes looks clean to general society, I'm sure you can get away with it, as having no cat on your car is highly illegal.. but I am sure there are some company's\corporations that pollute way more highly illegal things then someone removing their cat on their car for some extra fun =)

Or you could have a bypass valve welded after your headers\ before your cats, it is vacuum controlled so when you gun the throttle, the valve bypass's your OEM exhaust, and dumps exhaust right out to the atmosphere.. that would be pretty loud.. can you say.... Nascar v8? haha. you can prolly have a toggle switch to activate this valve too.. with this method, you can still have OEM exhaust, or flip the switch when your on the freeway in the middle of the night and just open up the exhaust, prolly gain a ton more HP too =)

I went this route and it worked out awesome. Sadly, I have no aft dyno, I will at some point soon.

Replaced Secondary cats with stainless 200cel metal cat brand.
3in magnaflow y-pipe
3in rear section in stainless
Mandrel bend sections
3in stainless magnaflow muffler with stock AMG tips.

The secondary cats were replaced because I will eventually do headers which will eliminate the primary cats. The car is noticably improved and sounds exactly as it should now. Its much more fun. Very happy with the results.

Wow. That is quite a system. You need to post some videos with sound up on YouTube so we all can hear it!

nitro-how much did that set up cost you? pm me if you don't wanna post. i really wanna change my exhaust setup...and please do post your dyno results...btw, is your setup applicable with n/a engine?

(4) 45 degree Mandrel Bends = 80.00
3ft section SS 3in pipe = 65.00
(2) Stainless 200cel cats = 320.00
2.5into 3in stainless magnaflow Y-pipe = I forget...not much
3in magnaflow stainless muffler = 85.00
Used my stock AMG tips
Ditched the resonator
Labor = 180.00

I guess it was about $750-850ish with shipping of parts and all. Well worth it, and as good if not better than any remus, esieman, or supersprint system. Probably bigger in diameter too. An N/A application should benifit alot as well. Combine this with headers and it would scream. The primary cats and manifolds create the biggest restriction right from the start.

resonator has no negative or positive bearing on the smog test

quites down the exhuast, mostly for a droning sound you may experience at certain rpm ranges like on the freeway

At one point I had the whole interior wrapped in CF (trim panels). My buddy does it for the medical community and hooked me up. The problem was that non of his work is ever for asthetics....just for fake limbs and such. Purpose only, so the best finish he could offer me looks like CF before it has the clear over it. So it was kinda dull and uneven looking in areas that were stretched. I retained what I could. The rest of the panels I had sprayed at the auto body for cheap change. The color is some random satin silver in a hammered finish. The hammered looks great in person.

As far as panel removal.....it's tricky and you can break things so be careful. I've taken mine apart an honest 10 times.

Lastly.....if I were you I would set your planned mods up in a C230 or something. A C43 is really meant to be all go, less show. Why waste a great perfomance base(C43) with audio/show stuff when you can have the identical body(C230) for much cheaper and it will still fit the bill for what you plan....just my opinion.

nitro-i just hate the wood trims, looks too old for me and i think it doesn't go well with my interiors... plus, i wanted to have a little show with the go :)

that all depends on how much ground clearance you have. you could route it to the side of the car as a "side exit" or it can exit right after the bypass valve with an angled tip pointing it to the side of the car

this way IMO.. is one of the best ways to go.. as you gain maximum performance when you want it, as it bypasses the full OEM exhaust system, and when you are driving regular, you wont be annoyed by the constant noise of an exhaust system.

id consider this a "full race" type of exhaust setup..

what do you guys think about vibrant resonators? and, is there a difference in power between a deleted resonator and an aftermarket one? reason why i ask is if there is no difference, why should i buy an aftermarket resonator?

nothing wrong with a little audio stuff

i'm running only the "front" cats and no resonators with the amg stock muffler. Still can barely hear the exhaust over the blower whine. It's as free flowing as it's going to get without headers though. Not sure why i didn't make a thread about it or mention it until now.

electric cut-off is an interesting option, but not very practical honestly (for many reasons once you get under there) and is just wasted weight.
