anyone ever install the Audio 10 MB radio in your 1994-1998 w202?
I have a 97 c280 and would like to hook it up in my car. I know the bottom two plugs willplug and play with my harness, and the radio would work, but i want to hook up my iPod. Blitzsafe has an adapter, but the website says that its only compatible with the non-fiber optic MB radios from 1994-1998. are all Audio 10 radios fiber optic? Reason i ask, is because i saw an ad on Ebay for the Audio 10 radio that the seller claims can be hooked up to the Blitzsafe adaptor to use an iPod. is this true? Hopefully someone has already tried this and can help me out. i can get my hands on the radio from a friend for basically nothing, but i want to be sure my iPod can be used.
Heres the radio info:

Radio model is MF2910
part # A 170 820 03 86
also says "Class 1 laser product"
Is this radio fiber optic??

Thanks
Ed

The Blitzsafe adapter, I think it is MB/M-Link1 , hooks up to the 10 pin connector where the stock, cd changer connects to. To be 100% sure if the Audio 10 (made by Alpine) that you will get is compatible with the Blitzsafe adapter is to have your friend check the back of the radio. If it has 10 pins (If I remember correctly, going horizontal at the bottom), then it should be compatible. The Class 1 laser product label is for the cd player since this is a cd/radio unit.

There is this guy in this forum that is selling the blitzsafe adapter. Let me know and I'll hook you up with him. ;)

thanks Airpost. I just checked the radio. It has the 10 pin CD chabger plug, but only has 5 actual pins. two on top and 3 on the bottom. all pins are to the left of the plug.
like this: LOL sorry, but i cant post pics here yet.

I - I - -
I I I - -

[ I ]show pins and the [ - ] are empty pin slots

Hope you can understand what i mean!

Do you know if the Blitzsafe adapter will work with this type of plug?
Thanks again!

It's been awhile since I saw my Blitzsafe adapter....let me check it and also compare the back of my old radio to see if the pin assignment is the same as the Audio 10. Will let you know late tonight.

I don't think it's going to work. See pics below:

Blitz connector with 9pins out of 10.

Becker stock radio cd changer pin layout.

As you can see, my stock radio has all 10 pins and the blitz connector is using 9 of the 10 pins. But since I don't have the Audio 10, I can't really tell for sure. Don't take my word for it but rather use the info as a basis of your decision making.

here, did a little research, though i might help you out. Here are what each pin does. This is for 94' to 96' cars without the can bus.

Just got an email from Blitzsafe. It won't work after all. Apparently, the radio is indeed fiber optic. They said they had an adapter for it, but discontinued it. Said they are currently developing a new adapter that will work with all MB fiber optic radio controls. Hopefully sooner than later, but he didnt give me a ETA. Thanks again to those that took time to help me out!
