i dont know if any people have seen this problem but last year i was in a parade with my car and it was a very hot day , and as you know you brake alot. well i had to replace one lense which got hot enough to melt and the right one showed a small dimple....well i just went threw a drive threw for some grub and noticed my light indiactor went on ..figured it was a bulb, but when i checked it was all good and the light went off after i turned the key off and then back on...has any of your suffered from melting taillights and if so is there something i can do because the new tail lense i replaced is showing a small dimple now...the bulbs are factory replacements....dimple is near the top of lenses...

yep, my right side tail light has a dimple in it near the the top. Im thinking about taking it off, torching it, then poping it back.

You have the option of putting in L.E.D. replacement "bulbs" which will not heat up. Search ebay with the part # of the original bulb and add "led" and you will find a wide variety. I recommend ones that have led's all around so that they will be visible from all angles, not just from the back. But before you buy make sure they are not too big and will not slide into the lens assembly.

I saw this once on a friend's W202. His wife was a real estate agent and I suspect that she had a long conversation with a client while she had her foot planted on the brake.

I would guess that the continuous duty cycle of a 55w brake light is limited to less than 5 minutes without a reasonable cooling period.

kevin dont use a torch .....i tried with the other one before replacing it and it makes it even worse...live with the dimple like me LOL ill check into the led lights but dont know how reliable they are....as much as i paid for the factoryright lense i could have bought those led replacements on ebay for both sides
