hey guys im new here im 14 and im going to start working on my dads old car. He recently got a S500 with an amg package and i get his old w202 1995 c280 its a darkish winter green color. All i have done is got a new Spectre airfilter but now im gonna get a body kit. How much should painting for the body kit be because i called a local place and they said it would be $1500-2000 just for the bodykit and $5000-11000 on the whole car do these prices seem right? Because im looking to get it painted black.
o oops i just noticed i put it in the performance tuning section can anyone move it to the body section?

5000-11000!!!!!!!!! WHAT A GAP...hahahaha...for 11000 that you can get a nice 00' 230k...i wouldnt think more than MAYBE 3000 for a whole car to paint....MAYBE like 1000 for a kit....there trying to rob you blind kid, i'd go somewhere else..

oh and a couple of other ideas...i live in FL..and let me tell you black is the worst color you can get of a car...esp here...when i was looking for a car i wanted black...black...black...thats all i wanted...and unless your going to be keeping it in a garage i STRONGLY suggest your do not get black...it is a complete bitch to keep clean...i detail cars for work and i have to clean mine everyother day...and out in the heat it sucks..water spots, dust, road grime, it just sucks...but when its clean it is the best looking color...but let me suggest white, gun metal gray esp. with some black rims, the dark forest is nice too...and can never go wrong with a dark blue...and as for mods for a 280...magnaflow exaust sounds great on that 6cyl..and dont forget the intake...and since you have the pre facelift you should definitly get a body kit...esp the WALD kit...and if your only 14 how the hell will you be driving this anyways?

no, dont go with a pearlish silver...so with dark silver, or dark gray, or gun metal gray....and black rims are def the way to go...just a standard silver is so plain and very common...but go dark, but not black...

no.
it may handle better, but that depends on your driving. you need lowering springs and shocks.

oh because i have the stock rims on my w202 and if got 16's with low pro's id be loosing about 3 inches of tire and it would'nt get lowered
thx for all the help tho

thats just not really the way to lower your car. sure it will lower it but it wont be noticed much, you need to close the gaps between the wheel and fender, stiffning the suspension reducing body roll = better control.
for example,
I had stock rims/suspension,
I lowered the car with lowering springs about 2.75" and on stock rims the car was lower to the ground, then when I got 19" rims it did raise my car slightly because the wheel+tire diameter was bigger.
but if you go from 195/65/15 to some 16"s with low pro's that wont drop your car 3inches, you will be lucky if you even notice a change in ride hieght
you should definatly read about what the pros and con's are after altering your suspension and if you understand tire sizes it will help you out alot.

16"s????...what? you want to put low pros on 16sSS????...and then lower it?...im sure others that are reading that must be thinking the same thing i am....but why the hell would you do that??...you can find great replicas out there and actually i got my authentic AMG's off of ebay from an old man who bought a clk500..i got my rims and pirelli p-zeros for only 700..but had to replace the tires about 6 mon later...16s with skinny tires will not look right esp if you drop it...If it were my car..i would start with the windows..get them dark...secondly get rims...17" and higher...18's look the best...then worry about paint/body kit...then engine mods...exaust, intake..make sure oil is good, tranny fluid, etc..

Welcome! look up my car in the members gallery, is your's the same color? if it is: C'MON spruce green is the best color on a 202!haha. when ifirst got my car, i wasn't a fan of the green either. but now i love it, the way it shines in the light is awesome, especially after its been detailed, it has a very nice metallic shine. its also pretty rare to see a spruce green w202, at least in nj. there is so many silver, black, beige, white 202's, they are all nice, don't get me wrong, but its nice to have something different. Get a magnaflow exhaust, sounds amazing on my 1994 c280, i have a video up you can watch it on youtube. tint's a good idea, too. Good luck, and post up some pics of your car.

Predrag ... DONT go to maaco. ive seen their work, first off they suck at masking parts off (better to remove stuff tho) and i bet i can do a better paint job with a can of spray paint.

I was wondering why Maaco advertised such cheap prices $249 "ambassador service". Anyone know if this paint chips off after a few months?

you get what you pay for...
Logic

the reason the do it for 239.00 is all they do is mask it off and use some chemical treatment and then paint it... no body work what so ever and the dont paint door jambs engine compartment etc etc...so unless this car is getting painted the same color and is dentless the way i see it is save your money and get it done right the first time....believe my i have had plenty of custom paint jobs ( old lower rider guy here hehehe) and my paint jobs were 3500 plus and that was in 1989 but then again it was all candy too:cool: 1987 nissan pulsar make sure they stand behind there work i have seen some clean paint jobs ... what makes a good job is the prep work

3 years is a pretty long time, getting a new car would not be pointless.
buying a bodykit/paint/rims+tires/
suspension/reupholster/ +installation
will cost much more than what your car is worth. In the end when you go off to college and decide to sell your car, all that money you put in will do nothing to help to resell value of the car.

A good move might be to just save the money and buy a C43 that already has the stock performance/body kit/rims. then you could get the color you want and have a 300hp V8. Just add some tint and it would be perfect. then you could focus on saving for college
