View Full Version : Opinion on these mirrors?

Alright - please don't flame me, as this is just a random inquiry -

How do you think these mirrors would look on my car in carbon fiber? I'm going for a racer/aggressive look with these - you think these fit the bill with the rest of the car?

(Bear in mind that the 202 DTM car used a similar shaped mirror, but painted in red or other colours.)

i like the shapes of both mirrors, but i don't know if the polished arms would look nice on a 202. if i had to choose, i'd go with the first because of the shorter arms

The mirrors would work if you got like a racing scheme on your car. With it just being as it is might look off a bit.

I see what youre after though.

i like the shorter arms on the first pair, but i dunno if the rounded housings suit the 202...
what other racer-inspired things you gonna do?

Maybe you'll see at the next Autofest!! :D

It's hard to replicate the 202 DTM (crazy body work/fenders, etc.), so I'm still in the planning stages right now with it. But hopefully it'll come along sometime. :D

you know, the only way I can really see those mirrors on a 202 (let's use Luwin's car as an example) is with another 2" drop, CF hood, and touring style single-plane aluminum/CF rear wing.. and big red towhook sticking out the front lower grille. I honestly think that wouldn't look too bad, so long as there's the performance to back it up.
IMO the racer look is inspired by fully-functional items that substitute traditional style with a sharp, CNC-machined edge of its own. But it can't be half-done, or mixed with other styles, which makes it a harder path to follow when customizing because there's less variety in which to express oneself. But if done to the hilt, it can definitely look good. ;)

Well said, Will. :D

2" drop for me would be impossible as I already have problems with the Rieger piece as it is. CF hood - I wouldn't do it for now as I'm not really digging the look - if I ever got one in interest of saving weight, I would probably have it painted, so that defeats the purpose of getting it just for the "look." Touring style wing - that might be something to consider, as I now have two trunklids to play around with. :D

Red towhook? Stay tuned for that one.

Hmm, I like the Hagus style... remember we "started" it :) haha

Werd. They take a while to get because apparently they have to get them from Europe. I had asked Koolvin to see if it was available in the UK, and it was, but the price was almost the same, so I just ordered it through a US distributor.

Will post pics once it arrives - should be sometime next week. :D

are you talking about the towhook or the mirrors? Cuz wouldn't a Foliatec towhook work? And I saw those same type of mirrors in cf housings in an Import Tuner ad...

I'm talking about the tow hook - FoliaTec is the one I'm getting, however, the exact one I want has to be ordered from Europe and will arrive in the first week of February.

And those mirrors come in CF too :D

You car is gonna be so freaking hard man!!!!

Perhaps 510 Fenderflares could be mod'd to fit on a 202 that way you can get some flarin' action. I know they make fenderflares for a lot of the old japanese cars perhaps see which one would work with the 202. And leave the pop rivet holes in place to give it more of the race car look.

WERD!!

Something that I'll see if I can pull it off with a minimal amount of headache and hit to the wallet - but then that would defeat the whole essence of "custom" modding!! :D

No! I like the original mirrors better. They look nicer and present a racier look.

Have you ever considered fender mounted side mirrors. I'm not sure if they used it in 1994 or 1995 DTM series. Since your car is silver, go with the Klaus Ludwig scheme, as he won the 1994 DTM series.

geez... has it been that long since I logged in? Anyways, I noticed these universal fender flares (http://www.jspek.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5278&highlight=fender) on another site. Maybe someone out there will find a use for them.

i love the rear trunk lip... and the rear rieger (or other) window/roof wing whatever you call it.

but the fenders and the hood are not in my tastes

oh and since this thread is about mirors, I really don't think it looks good.

maybe it's juste that the "race" look with carbon hood and mirors is not my bag with a benz
