quite a few people has taken the res off. what u get is a louder sound, with a heavier drone. that's about it as far as i can tell.

i guess it's all about the decibels afterward and the state limit. if u r running stock muffler u can probably give this a try and have no problem with it. i guess if u can pass inspection and live with the noise level, go for it.

Take it out. Car will sound better and the thing feels like it weights 30lbs once removed. Also, on the C43's the resonator is problematic for cracking. Everyone I know who removed one from a C43 found cracks somewhere on it. I found crack s on mine. I would order a section of SS pipe and have it welded in. Should cost less than $100.

I have a 3in 4 foot section of Stainless 304 I could sell you cheap if you want to do a larger 3in rear section like I have. It's less than a grand and the V8 sounds monstorous with this.

a resonator removes the raspy\crackling\pop noise from the exhaust.. I removed mine about 1 year ago now, maybe it gave 1-2hp, its not worth it.. my muffler sounded like crap! I just cut my rear muffler off the other day, and now my car has a WRX tone to it, now its to loud. Im going to re-weld my resonator back into the system , knowing it will remove the ugly raspy sound from the exhaust, maybe it will tone the level of the exhaust note down too. we will see,

this information is from my c230 kompressor.

My actual resonator was 24lbs so roughly 23lbs in weight savings. hope that helps

nitro-will i still pass smog without the resonator?... how much do you want for the pipes? is it a complete bolt on without any modifications?

hrm why not just take it off and wrap in heat wrap and put it back ... crack issue solved ?

for the last time! Resonators have nothing to do with emissions, nor do the muffler. Only cat converters
