These are the ones that commonly wear out.
They should come in pairs; 2 per side.

Supposedly that is for one side. So you need two packages.

I just put those in my swapped 280, worked out very nice, you will not be able to install them without the special tool...

People dont realise, the stock w202's have about 60% of center part wraped in rubber like this (|@|) @ being the center bolt and () being the outer part of the LCA.

the 208's are 100% covered in rubber (((@))) no gap, but are FLUID FILLED. they must be pressed in with great caution. Most mb techs have never replaced a w208 bushing. They are bulletproof.

I'm very glad I used them.

Okay, let me try and explain this to you guys since I can speak from experiance in replacing these bushings,

Each control arm (theres two in the front end) has TWO bushings, meaning 4 total bushings in the front end of the vehicle. the TWO bushings CLOSER to the bumper never wear out, so whats the point of replacing them ??? the other two bushings are the ones that wear out and come apart/make clunking noise when going down the driveway.

if you buy the W208 bushings you get KITS, you will need two kits so you would be replacing all four bushings even the ones that I said dont wear out (closer to the bumper) and special tool required for install .

the polyurathane bushings only include two bushings that replace the worn ones NOT the ones closer to the bumper and to install them I had the control arm removed, hack sawed the OEM aluminium worn bushings out and them placed the polyurathne ones and smacked it agianst the ground a few times they slide right in and your good to go.

dont forget to get an alighnment after replacement of LCA bushings. :)

Like he said, I had both the 202 and the 208 kit on the counter, current kits make you think the 208's have better front bushings, so I was hellbent to change those PITMFA fronts. Just to find the older w202 kit (my cars a 96) the fronts were teh same as the 208s.


back to the FLUID FILLED 208's:

without the tool kiss your money goodbye. The benz tool does not work so well and we used a local former tech's tool (retired: he now runs a machine shop improving MB tools)

208's are NOT simple. I prefer them still...

In terms of performance and longivity you really can't beat the poly bushings, but they give a harsher ride and sometimes make noise, so if your intent is to give your car to your pops within the next year, who already thinks the Bilsteins are hardly bearable, they probably aren't the right choice.
