Hey guys, my cat's been rattling lately. I took a look under-neath my car and noticed the car has 2 Catalytic converter's. I was wondering if its possible to replace both Catalytic converter's with one? and if there are any after market cheap solutions out there? I want to know what you guys recommend, i want some what of a proper job done, but i'm not thrilled about spending big money on my car either.... let me know guys!
thanks

Well if you want to be cheap, just rip off the exhaust. Hell, it's free.
You can get cheap universals at summitracing.com or jegs.com
Go to summitracing & look up "Keyword" CTO-6905-R or MPE-53005CA. Both good universals.

hey thanks for the response. So with these cat's i would have to buy 2 of them right? as the car has two cat's on it right now. Or do i just need one of these?

see where your oxygen sensors are located. on mine the sensors are in front of the last cat. so if you've got a similar setup, i suppose u can cut off the 2nd cat and replace it with pipe for less restricted air flow. surely u can pick up a higher flow cat for the first one as well. the money u save on buying one less cat should suffice on covering the cost of replacing one cat with pipe.

You can run one cat without setting off o2's go to performancepeddler.com and buy the metalcat (the brand) cat. Get the 2.5 inch its 200 cell and flows like it is a 400 cell. You might as well do the rest of your exhaust while you are at it. I have had good results using the magnaflow 14833 muff and their 22inch res (the largest one they have). You will need to use a Y pipe because of the headers but any good exhaust shop will be able to take care of that for you. The trouble is that if you are in california it will be hard to find a shop that will take two cats out and put one cat in, even if the one cat is a higher flow than the two old ones. Cheers.
