I searched around for this on a few sites, but didn't come up with anything other than info on manual trans swaps. Anyway, I was checking under the cra to make sure it wasn't leaking any oil ( I just changed it today), when I saw a cut out infront of the transmission housing. In this cutout I could see the teeth of the flywheel. I was just wondering if MB cut something out to work on the trans or if it's always been like that. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow, unless it's like that on other C230s.

you turn the engine over by hand and you will find bolts that bolt your engine to the torque converter.

its for removing your engine/trans.

Yes I can confirm that. There should be a cover there. If you want to get one I think they are pretty cheap from parts. I it how you disconnect the torque convertor from the flex plate(automatics do not have flywheels) of the engine. There are 6 bolts grouped together in twos.

Oh, ok, so it's got a cover, but MB never put one back on? They had to remove the tranny once to do some work.
