Ok first off, before anyone yells at me for posting another exaust thread please note that i did alot of searching and didn't really find what i needed. I honestly didn't want to post a new thread but my questions weren't getting answered just by reading. I posted a thread on HP when i first joined and alot of people said that would benefit alot by doing a custom exaust setup. So now that i actually have the money i want to do it . My question is what will i need, where can i get all of these things, and how much?? If you have any knowledge of this while you are reading, please comment. (Also please be as specific as possible, i dont really know much when it comes to performance  ) All coments and info are really appreciated. Thankyou:D

There was a groupbuy for Headers a while back. The person that sold me my '99 C230 still happens to have his for sale. Otherwise, I know I have seen a linky around here recently for those. I think ~ $450.

The rest of the exhaust can easily be made at any decent tuning or exhaust shop. Make sure they use all stainless and use a mandrel for the bends. 2.5" pipe should be plenty for the C230. I was quoted $600 for my C230 (full from the mani), but I live in a different area of the country.

well first off are you thinking of replacing all or just do a cat back?
i just had some exhaust stuff done and i purchased a magnaflow 14833 which was used from chewy but in good condition..i was going to replace the exhaust from the cat back but was told that the factory resonators are strait threw free flow and by replacing it with like a 22 inch magna flow would get a better tone but might be louder which i didnt want all i did was replaced the muffler since the pipe was still in good conditon. i m not sure if i increased anything by the muffler only but i have a great tone when the gas is pressed ...accents the custom CAI sound

i want to replace the entire exaust with all highflow parts. There is a pair of performane headers on ebay for $300 i think. Is that something that i would want to get?

Use magnaflow components for the exhaust. Magnaflow 22" resonator + magnaflow muffler catback. in your case a 2.25" full mandrel bent system is best. Start from scratch and dump the stock system and build your custom setup, it will save alot of money in the long run.

Mandrel bends and magnaflow components can be had for very cheap. You can have an entire full system excluding headers for less than about $250-300 in parts and about $100 in labor at any exhaust shop. so $500 installed you can have a very freel flowing exhaust system. Metalic cats on ebay are between $115-180. I would run a single 2.25" setup with 2.25" 200-300 cell performance cat, 22" mag resator, and magnaflow all in one muffler with various mandrel bends. That even with stock headers will be a VERY potent exhaust system. Then for intake make sure you do something w/ cold air.

Omey i don't think they used mandrel bends when installing my magnaflow muffler... is that bad? i mean i saw him bend it with the machine and all, plus how do I know if the connecting pipe they used at Midas is SS?

how really bad can it be ....mandrel vs a bent pipe ...is there much more HP achieved? since he only had a muffler put on ? 280 there are two types of pipe muffler shops used stainless or aluminized pipe... if they used stainless it would be more pricey....look on your receipt and see if it states that or just call the place and ask them

don't buy from them they will rip you off. Get magnaflow parts off www.justmagnaflow.com they are cheapest online retailer for magnaflow stuff.

yes mandrel does make that big of a difference and it is essential for max HP. You have to buy mandrel bends b/c most shops don't have mandrel bender except the best race shops.

what would be too large diameter pipe on our forced induction cars(Kompressor 4 cylinder)?
I had though about 2 3/4" exhaust mandrel bent.. would 3" be to big?
