I notice less aggressive acceleration in the "W" mode vs the "S" mode. Most likely to give you less slipping in wet/slick conditions.

Plus here on this forum a few times.

W=Winter. Starts you out in sesond gear, has a softer shift pattern. I have noticed a considerable gain in gas mileage in this mode.

S= Standard. Like it states. It is the standard mode. For dry pavement. Starts in 1st & has harder firmer shifts.

S = better mpg
W = less mpg, slow accel. through gears burning more fuel
