Nah, you should be good. If you're stretching that much run Falken FK452s.

You can run 225X40x18 in the front and
255X35X18 in the rear. ;)

well yes i have that option too, but since im lowered on h&r im affraid it will have issues in the rear, and the tires i found are Nankang NS-II's in the size that i want, and all 4 will cost me with shipping $320

Jasko,

The following link lists the approved wheel and tyre sizes (and the approving authority) for your car. You may wish to reconsider your tyre size choice after reading it:

i have 18x9.5 (et46 w/10mm h&r spacer) in the rear and run 265/35/18 kumha ecsta spt tires... only minimal rubbing in the left rear. I'm on h&r sport springs and stock shocks and spring pads. i'd probably go with 255/35/18 tires next time around and i won't have the rubbing problem..

and fyi.. i'm running 18x8.5 (et44 w/5mm h&r spacer) in the front and run 225/40/18 and i have that "stretchy tire" look.. and i was a vw guy in my previous life :)

ummm smaller tread width than stock?.....ummm good luck. Glad i'm not driving next to ya. You have a mercedes not a '64 impala.

IMHO not a wise choice at all on the tires. Just because you like a certain look, doesnt mean it will work well, or should even be considered on a car. The tires need to be a certain width for a reason.
Good luck with insurance if anything happens & good luck to you, if anything happens.

the OEM tires that come on my 16's are 205/55/16 so that isnt samller than stock where i would be running 215/40 up front, and explain me why u wouldnt want to drive next tome me, i dont understand, give me some more information why its to skinny for the front if it is to skinny

i dont se what the issue would be with a 215 on a 8in rim or 225 on a 9in

I had 225's on 8 inches before and you're talking only 10mm thinner.....you'll be alright but might consider a 235 on the 9 inch rim though

The site is listed above for the authorised wheel/tyre sizes for the Mercedes. If you stray outside of these authorisations, then obviously you are on your own with the attendant legal and ethical liabilities in the event of an accident with injuries.

Below is a page from the Continental Tyre site for their ContiSportContact 3 Tyre range. Of note, Continental only seem to permit their 225 tyre to be fitted to a 7.5J inch rim for Mercedes.

Other tyre manufacturers may have other limitations.

Please exercise caution.

ok, i'm looking at 18 x 8.5 front with 245/35/18 tires and 18 x 9.5 rear with 265/35/18. all around the offset is +35. i don't like the stretched tire look and would like to have the tires as flush with the fenders as possible. i'm also looking at lowering the car with h&r springs, bilstein shocks, and the highest possible pads to have an even front and rear look. any suggestions? will this setup work?

I went to a local shop today and the little shop guy told me that I needed to run 265/35/18 ( I have staggered, 18.8 and 18.9) Im wondering if I should take his advice-- Do you guys think I will need spacers? If so what size? DAMN>>>>>

the rim width is fine...the tire width is too much for the front.

the tires i'm looking into are the dunlop sp sport maxx. i checked out the specs on them and the 245's where measured on a 8.5 inch wide wheels and the overall tire width will only be a little bit wider than the rim itself. i think it's something like 9 inches sidewall to sidewall front and close to 11 inches in the rear.

I suggest that you should get 225 x 40 x 18 for the front. So you wont have any problem down the line as far as rubbing.

ok i took a look at the front suspension and i see why you guys recommend the 225's... so that's settled, will the 265's work in the rear though??
