find a C36 motor.
swap in the long block, flash the ECU and download new software using a C36 Vin number. I think the SDS will allow you to do that ...

How hard is it do a engine swap from a 4 to a 6 banger or even v8

you better off just trading your car in and getting something like a c36 or c43 if you are going to spend that kind of money on a engine swap

well my question is that since the c36 is the pre update i think. my lorinser body kit should directly bolt on right?

Engine swap is a waste of time, you dont get the bespoke suspension, brakes, or uprated trans and such..
Buy a C36 and swap the kit over if you really want to, I prefer the OEM C36 kit TBH
the 98+ have the extended bumpers. in your case, you should be fine. your lorinser kit should bolt up no problem.

The utility of the swap depends on how many modz you've done and how much you love the car in its current state. have a look @ this thread I posted a while back that didn't get much luv, titled FS (friend's) C36 Engine, Trans, ECU, Harnass (http://www.club202.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13040) ... you're the perfect candidate.
You can even conside shipping it here, and back, if you're on the west coast and don't have a great mech to do the swap. If you don't go nuts with shipping options, it'll only be about $1500 for shipping of the car here and back from west to east to west coast. Of course I am a member of the more money then brains club so those things don't phase me ... hell, I'm thinking of using DAS and shipping the car to Germany so I can drive 'round Europe for a few weeks, and visit the ring. Gotta find out how to get a tourist plate; and if I can pass 'inspection' with the speedybenz suspension! (but I digress...)

correct me if i'm wrong, but i think you guys have the wrong idea.
he's sayin he's currently got a full lorinser kit, with remus exhaust and some other mods.
all of this should be transferrable to a C36, yes. the body and chassis is very much the same as your C280. I don't know why you would want to replace a genuine C36 kit with a lorinser kit though, but if you do i would be interested if it's a genuine sportline lorinser kit and you wanted to sell it. ;)

And if you do decide to replace the C36 body kit with the Lorinser then pm me since I'm interested in the C36 kit. ;)
