View Full Version : How many pins??

I have searched and I can not find an answer. I have a 98 c230 and I want to replace the headlight assembly. Before I go shopping, I wanted to find out how many pins are on the plug so I don't lose any lights..

Also, What do you all recommend. I would like HID's or Halogens but Im starting to lean towards the Crystals.. :bunny:

couldnt you just unplug it and count the pins? LOL

6 pins. But i think there are one actually 5 because our cars dont have driving light bulbs and the euro ones do.

What do you mean waste an hour? It takes less than 3 minutes to pop the hood and unplug, then replug. Why risk it? Some models have more pins than others, just check.

I asked this question a dozen times as well when I was getting my projectors, it was cause I was out of town and wasnt at my car or else I would've just popped the hood (which is btw the best solution to this)

Well here is your answer:

American/Canadian w202 use 4 pins
European w202 use 6 pins.

If you have already bought the 6 pin one. No problem. You can buy the adapator. It however causes some other light to turn on when it shouldnt dpeending on how you wire it.

Appreciate the help. Will check it out myself to be certain... I thought that all American 202s would be the same-- I have egg on my face!

As far as the adapters-- Do most sellers send this anyways or will I have to purchase seperatly?

You have to buy it seperatly.
