I want to install some faux amg c36 side skirts on my pre-update 202. I know to install the regular updated sideskirts I'd need newer clips. Would I need new clips to install the c36 skirts since they are pretty much from the pre-update era? Also, would i need to replace/remove the black strip that goes along the bottom part of my door??

if you're getting molded "faux" fiberglass sideskirts, there's a strong chance that OEM hardware won't work. it's simply too difficult to be cost effective to make a 100% replica of the OEM plastics. they will most likely just need to be drilled and plugged after you have them sanded and trimmed to fit.

Its actually made of some stuff called duraflex. Heres the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mercedes-C-Class-W202-94-00-AMG-Style-Body-Kit-SIDES-Bo_W0QQitemZ290165060619QQihZ019QQcategoryZ36475QQ rdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

PG, do you still think it will require sanding and drilling to make it fit? It says it comes with a "hardware kit" and installation guide.

duraflex / fiberglass / FRP (fiber reinforced plastic) are all the same thing. its quality stuff for the most part, and it's much more flexible than say.. a classic corvette body.

in my experience with dozens of body kits over dozens of cars, it'll require some TLC to make it fit just right; nothing ever ever fits like OEM. the hardware kit it comes with is probably decent, and would most likely require you to drill the holes and insert the locking plugs that's probably shipped with them.

you most likely wouldn't need to make a trip to the dealer for hardware, unless you wanted to order C36 weatherstrips for the doors since the skirts will make your stock ones much more noticeable (black rubber edge along the bottom of the doorline).

thats not a bad deal to be honest, and for that price it's probably a decent product imported from the far east. good luck on it, and keep us updated with the install!
