Any ideas? I've searched and haven't seen anyone else with a problem like this; most people suffered from the dead, sticky needle problem.

Vehicle is a 97 C36 AMG and is not overheating.

Wow, that's interesting! How long has it been doing this?

Does it always stay that way, or actually move?

And does it reset back to the normal inoperative position when you turn off your car?

Was thinking if there is some-sort of "bump stop" that keeps the needle from swinging beyond the scope of the gauge that may be broken.

yeah my gas gauge does that all the time, its wierd, so funny though

my gas gauge did that and i tapped the dash ( punched) and it started working .... but my temp gauge is still dead

dam how do you know what your temp is...sounds kinda risky to me....
