The one and only time I had a Clifford was back in 1987. It was in my Datsun 240. You could buy one new out of the box and it would work on other peoples Clifford alarms.
I used to turn on and off my neighbors car alarm. It would drive him crazy because he thought it malfunctioned :silly:
After that, I always stuck with Alpine alarms. They had the coolest remotes!

I use the Viper 791XV which is made by DEI, same as clifford or viper. all the same exact stuff.
I have the full on remote start and everything. No window roll up yet though. That requires an extra module and is time based so it kinda is bad for the window motors.

most decent alarms are made by dei ( clifford, viper, pyton , valet etc etc) as far as windows go most newer mercedes have them pretty much built in . if you insert the key into your drivers door and twist and hold most likey the windows will roll up and down and the moon roof too. if your car does this you dont need window mods at all. all you had to do is when its professionally installed they can hook up aux outputs to your lock and unlock and extend it and they will roll up and down ...no mods needed. as far as remote start most mercedes with the inflared key pretty much are out of luck since they is no interface for those type of keys. but if you have the switch blade key you can. as far as the window mods there the 530 t made by dei . most window mods current usually wont cause window motor issues since they work on resistence. so if you windows are really hard to roll up , these wont work very well. i have had window mods on my van when new in 98 and they still work fine. as far as alpine alarms go alpine discontinued making them about 4 years ago. if you find any there more likey old stock . my van actually has a alpine 8059 alarm and works great , it has everything you can think of . for example . it has the basics like lock/unlock, 2 shocks sensors , battery back up , radar, remote start, paging unit alpine 8025, window mods , dual sirens , light flash, starter kill, glass breakage sensor, ok ok alot of those aren't basic but hey the system in there even tho its about 8 years old rocks.

remote starts when installed properly actually isnt bad at all.....i have had mine in the van going on 9 years now . usually the ones that people buy that are at like walmart , etc and dont spend the money on the good one can have problems down the line. you can say starting your car is bad for your engine....see where i m coming from:cool:
