for the final drive gear ratio is 3.37 for C180 and 3.07 for C220 and if not mistaken 2.87 for C280. I'm not sure about C200.

Thanks guys!

so,

C180 = 3.27
C220 = 3.07

3.67 = manual C280 ? shouldnt it be 2.67 ?

Hmm ... then what is the ratio on my 97 C230?

My goal is to try and help out the lazy acceleration problem while keeping the 19" rims.

-c280nz, I believe you converted your C280 into a manual from an automatic right? sorry for getting off topic but will you be willing to explain step-by-step how to bypass the automatic transmission computer so that I dont have a Check engine light and connecting the rear back-up lights? you can Email me, Remolexi@hotmail.com your help is appreciated!!

remo it is factory manual.
and the diff was 3.67
try and get a 3.27 rear, that will help with your acceleration.
you have to swap the whole diff, dont pull it apart, and you have to make sure it has the sensors you need.
and the right output shaft couplings (to the half shafts) they come in two sizes
and driveshaft couplings. they come in two size aswell, large and small.
Im sure the diff will just come set up or not, so measure everything b4 they send you the diff

recently i just converted mine from auto to manual transmission. i got mine used from Germany from what i was told.

i'm not exactly sure on the procedure of swapping the transmission.

The way my mechanic bypass the the auto transmission signal, is by pulling out some connector behind the driver (if it's left-handed) headlamp, i'll check whether there was something else that he connect back in place of the removed one or not. he also use the OBD to set the ECU to work with manual transmission so it wouldn't stall easily.

As Logan said, the final drive for manual transmission is at 3.67. Still debating with myself whether i should try putting the 3.07 back or not. Logan, how did urs run?

are you running the 3.67 pisit?
i had to change myne because i broke the 3.67 and couldnt find another one and had to change to 3.07 :-(

and have a look for my lightweight single mass flywheel install i did ;)

also pisit, am i right in presuming you are also running a 280 turbo?

yup, i'm running a 3.67 now. ideally i would like to us around 3.3 ~ 3.4 with LSD. guess that is not gonna happen.

same here, looking for single mass flywheel with spring clutch. i heard that Paul (23k) was looking into changing it as well, not sure if he done it already or not.

mine's a c220 turbo:D wish it was a C280:rolleyes: turboed!

Hey pisit, this really helps me out! so I take it yours 220 is a 96' ?

yea try and find out what exactly was done to bypass the ECU so it works with manual and no CEL,

hey did you keep your automatic flywheel or is that one differnt?

what model did you get the 5-speed from ?

how difficult was the pedal boxes and the shifter mechanism ?

driveline was the same too ??

Thanks for your kind replies! :D

yup, mine is a 220 96.
i'm pretty sure that the flywheel is the different unit. will go check the one on the automatic tonight. the one for manual is a dual mass flywheel which has a bit of flex instead of having a spring-clutch or flex-clutch.
For the transmission, i got the one directly for W202 chassis, but not sure the exact engine it's for, should be C200 or C220.
Pedal Box and shifter is a direct fit, not cutting or drilling need. OH, except for the plastic piece underneath the dashboard.
The front section of the driveline needs to be changes to a longer one, since the manual transmission is a much smaller unit and lighter! i think there's almost 80lb shaved off!
