I was changing the oil for the first time on the benz this weekend. I noticed a grey hollow tube with a black rubber grommet (L shape) at the end hanging behind the oil filter housing. I assume it is a vacuum tube. The other end of the grey tube disappeared at the center close to the wiper housing. But I cannot find where the black grommet attaches to.I looked at the firewall with a flash light, but cannot find what it attaches to. Any ideas.

Check your throttle body, I think it attaches to a nipple on there. Does the car idle rough now?

The rpm's are not jumping. It does seem a bit rough though while idling. I've had the car for a couple of months only. I'll check the throttle body.

Flyingbanana,
As Len said it sounds very much like the vacuum connection to the nipple on the throttle body.
See below for a photo of the throttle body and nipple at top right.

PS. You owe Len and me a banana each!

Thanks guys. I looked under the hood last night, but could not find the nipple. I think the picture will help. I'll try it out after work today and let you know.
P.S. If it works, I'll give you a bunch of banana's each.
