I Was Looking For Some Nice w202 Pics To Help With Ideas For Mods. I Came Across This Page (http://www.globalautoshop.com/accessories/automotive/benz_applications/c_w202.htm). It Has other Stuff But The CAI Caught My Eye. So i was Really Wondering If After Driving Around And Finding The PArts To Buil My Own, As Some Of You Have Done, Would It Be More Cost Effective To Just Get This One? And Would It Be Ok With The Aluminum Piping Versus The Plastic And PVC Pipes I See Everyone With?

I would not trust that intake for a second...

Building my own cost me about 40 bucks for the AEM dryflow filter, 40 bucks for the main pipe, 10 bucks for another smaller pipe, and 2(7 bucks) for the couplers. All are available at your local autozone or pepboys (except for that specific filter).

ps: No offense, but can you please not type in all caps? It is quite annoying to read.

DOSENT it defeat the purpose of having a cold air intake when ... all your doing is sucking in hot air from the engine bay?? For this mod to be beneficial you would need a custom box that prevented under the hood heat from the exhaust from reaching the intake. Just my 10 cents.

Why not? Have you had experience with this brand of intake before?

Because it's definitely a universal, non-dyno tested intake that looks like it won't provide sufficient airflow, but that's just my opinion

if you do a search for custom CAI you'll see some installs into a c280 where they take the pipe into the bumper, this takes the filter out of the engine to prevent hot air. also take every precaution when you do this to prevent water into it . some suggestions would be a aem bypass filter.

Well I think I'm going to start on a custom one it that case. I'll pick up the PVC pipe and couplings later today. Then I'll work on finding a K&N cone filter.

I would veer far from using PVC as the plastic is not typically manufactured to be fire retardant and has a low melting point this stuff runs right over your flaming hot exhaust. Make sure that the tubing you purchase is not some Home Depot plumbing stuff.

any pics of where people have put these in the bumper?

i'm forced to make a custom one with m sc install (or run the filter in a very HOT location)

So what material would be good to use for the piping? I'm not trying to have melted plastic in my engine bay.

here are some pictures of mine , although its for a kompressor it gives you a idea on how this is done. it is stainless steel 3 inch with a aem bypass and k&n filter . most of the piping in this case was custom made. was told that the c280 are much easier since its a 45 elbow or 2 and a long strait piece. again do the search on the cai for a c280 and i bet you'll find some on here.
