My front tires are wearing out on the outsides.

Car is a 1998 C43 59K miles.

I brought the car in to have the alignment checked. The tech says the alignment is fine but the tires are crap.

They are Falken Ziex ZE512. Stock size. The tech says these tires are designed for small light front drive cars. Civic etc. Says the weight of the V8 with rear drive forces too much pressure on the outside of these tires.

Is this true?

Also if it is can a member recommend a replacement that is better suited to this application.

Price is somewhat of a factor. But I want something that won't wear the outsides prematurely.

I have 16,000 miles on the current tires.

They were put on by the PO.

Thanks,

Wally

What the tech said may be true, but what PSI are you currently running?

A low PSI would cause the middle of the tire to concave in (more weight there) and have the car rolling on the edges.

Like this:

Normal ----

Under inlflated _--_

Overinflated -__-

Hope that is clear.

i currently have been using those tires for years and i average about 20k ish miles on them even tho i have the 4 banger kompressor. they are a z rated tires . my tires tend to wear on the inside a little also but its from lowering the car too.
