All you guys looking for Intakes.

Just wanted to let all of you guy's know about this new intake that I ordered, and just arrived.

It's basically a K&N 57i Intake, that I was pretty amazed when I took it out and looked at it. (Currently not installed, I have to go back home in a few weeks then let you know the full feedback)

Anyway, from what I see in the box, I'm extremely impressed that this isn't any e-bay knock off intakes.

The cone filter itself looks well-built, it's heavy and the material isn't bad at all.
It's a "Short-Ram" intake that has another tube that connectes to the bumper so that it let's cold-air in. (I was impressed by this, since I thought this 57i was an universal intake.
But it's not. The diagram for installation has a M111 engine layout, that I believe fit's for all I-4 engines on our 202.

The inside piping for the cone is anti-heat coated, the inside is all silver.

This was an absolute experimental intake for the 202 that I wanted to try, and I think I will be very happy with the results when I get to install them.

Anyone looking for a Short-ram intake, that allows cold air in, and looking for a reputable brand should highly look into this product.

It's a bit pricey, at around $240 with the full set. But I'll see when I go back to Hong Kong in a few weeks.

for what you paid for that you could have made your own intake. the one you show will it put the filter inside the engine compartment and the bad thing about that is it will be drawing warm air into it. even with a heat shield it will draw the air from with in. do a search on custom CAI and see what alot of us did .

it's not like it makes a huge difference either way unless you are in traffic and idling...

Expo is that a custom intake? Power gains/losses? Sound?

O btw, if u read his first post carefully, he stated that it included a tube to route the filter to the bumper.

i guess so-

it's the hps sc kit's piping cut off at a custom location such that i can hopefully get some cold air through using a hood louver of some sort above it. At this point it's just cobbled together and not complete though.

Update
So.. it feels awesome back home.
anyway, i finally got my intake installed. with absolutely no fitment problems, it was an easy install.

as for performance level, as usual on a pot intake, i have lost quite a lot of low-rpm power. however, after going over 2800rpm, the sound of the whole car changes.
it's really beefy, and the high end rpm rises fairly quickly.

i'll be with the "hot-ram intake" for a while, and will be switching to a cold air next year.

otherwise, cool mod and it sounds awesome inside and out.

why did you have to cut the car....in most c class's the pipe goes threw to the bumper with no cutting. unless the angle wasn't right?

i'm afraid my car is more than a little bit different situation than most. Plus i'm not afraid to cut if i think it will mean 5hp or that it will look best show wise down the road. The cutting was done VERY cleanly and looks factory now. I'm probably running a larger filter in a different location than most.

if you can take some pictures of it...is the filter still in the engine ? or is it in the bumper?

neither really- the top of it is right behind the bottom of the tail light. the filter is mounted perfectly vertical (so it extends about 8" lower than that). It fits just inside the inner fender down there and up against the lines for that ac condensor thing or whatever it is down there.

I "swiss cheesed" the belly pan thing on that side (it forms the front part of the inner fender too) on the bottom side to increase air flow.

are you talking the plastic pan under the engine...if so be careful about that since water can be a factor there....i left my belly pan alone....just in case of water... mine breaths thru the bumper...

i am talking about the smaller "belly" pan on the right hand side under there only. I will not have water problems. I didn't want to have more piping than absolutely necessary. it can't help.
