when I start my car, a picture of a wrench appears on the odometer, followed by the number 300.

[wrench] 300

does anyone know what this means?

Your car is telling you that it is 300 miles overdue for a check-up. I wonder if you can clear it with a code reader?

what sort of check up?
I had my transmission fluid, oil, and coolant, all changed about a month ago.

If you have one wrench then you need an A service 2 wrenches a B Service. The 300 assuming it does not have a - before it means that you need to perform at minimum oil change, with in the next 300 miles. If it is a -300 then your 300 miles overdue for service. Your service booklet that came with your vehicle assuming that you have it will tell you additional service required at the mileage point your presently at. Typical A service is oil change inspection, topping off all fluids and replacement of the cabin particulate filter. In the forums there is a guide that will give you the steps for resetting the FSS system I recommend performing all A and B Services getting the car inspected or doing it your self then resetting the FSS that way you know it is accurate.
